Mars turns direct this week on January 12, 2023 (20:58 GMT) and you don’t know how delighted I am to write those words. Mars retrograde can be a testing time as this is a frustrated Mars.
The planet which rules assertive behaviour, anger, passion, the libido, courage and physical activity doesn’t like to be held back, slowed down or repressed. Mars gets irritable and testy in retrograde phase and Mars has been on go slow for ten weeks since October 30, 2022.
Mars’ retrograde phases happen once every two years. Being double Mars-ruled, I often find them difficult, challenging, frustrating. Somewhere in life, you’re out of control as other people tend to hold the power. Mars-ruled star signs are Aries and Scorpio.
In brief, I’ve been extra busy writing and working and at times it’s felt like a struggle rather than a joy and last week I got ill. I literally had to stop and do nothing. As Mars is the planet of action, this makes sense. It’s a physical planet and Mars retrograde can coincide with personal injury or feeling depleted energy-wise.
If you’re a Gemini, you too may have experienced your fair share of Mars-related frustration, as Mars has been dragging its heels in your star sign.
Mars in Mercury’s star sign Gemini is a trickster combination, linked to lies and duplicity. There have been more than a few scams and frauds which have come to light while Mars has been in retreat. There will probably be more emerging this week.
The sage advice was to be careful what you said or wrote with Mars playing tricks in the star sign linked to communication. You might have been involved in a dispute with siblings or neighbours or had issues with transport or trading.
Consider what you’ve been plotting or planning, while Mars has been on go slow. Mars retrograde is a great time to rework your strategy. Are you ready to make your move, to speak up and get things moving? Mars turning direct can coincide with a surge of ambition and energy.
Dates & Degrees
On a personal level, this will be most powerful if you have planets/angles between 8° to 25° Gemini, the degree points where Mars turned on its tail (25° Gemini) and where it reclaims its dominance (8° Gemini). This is the hot zone where Mars has been moving to and fro and Mars is more than ready to reclaim its power.
You might be able to pick up a project, plans or ideas that were bubbling away from August 20 to October 30, 2022 when Mars was moving forward in Gemini last year.
The good news is that Mars remains in the star sign of communication Gemini until March 25th, giving you plenty of time to do (Mars) what you say (Gemini).
If this Mars transit is powerful for you, it might help to read the article I wrote when Mars entered Gemini back in August 2022: Mars Enters Gemini – Motor Mouth.
Expect more revelations this week or news that shows where you can take action and/or what you need to change. Onwards…
