Gemini April 2018

Gemini, mountains

Gemini (21 May – 21 June)

As April begins, your ruling planet Mercury remains retrograde and is on go slow until the middle of the month, the 15th to be exact. This may have been a frustrating Mercury retrograde phase for you so far as Mercury is in retreat in Aries, the sign that wants things to happen now. Patience is not one of Aries’ virtues.

There could be a breakthrough, however, before Mercury turns direct and the date to note is April 1st. This is when the Sun comes together with retrograde Mercury and this is always an important connection. It’s the start of a new Sun/Mercury cycle, called an Inferior Conjunction, and, when the Sun and Mercury are exactly side by side, you might have a sudden insight or an event takes place that’s illuminating, brilliant even.

Aries rules your friends and group sectors and this is about your hopes and wishes so you could be with other people at this time and find that a revelation comes via someone close. It’s often a significant turning point that helps you make sense of the lessons which Mercury retrograde brings. You know which way to turn, who can help you and where to focus your mind, your energy.

You may also be dealing with some dark or difficult issues this month because the personal planets in Aries clash with a powerful trio of planets in Capricorn. This includes action planet Mars, authoritative Saturn and power-hungry Pluto.

Capricorn rules joint finances and the resources you share with other people. Therefore, this may be about money while Mars marches determinedly through your joint finance sector. It could be a time of real ambition, when you’re ready to knuckle down and do whatever it takes to make ends meet, pay off debt or earn a fortune.

Alternatively, you could find yourself up against the authorities and this is not the time to duck and dive and try and talk your way out of any wrong-doings. The competing factors of your ruler Mercury on go slow until the 15th and a powerful aspect between Mars and Saturn on the 2nd could spell trouble. Either that or you’re doing your best to hide your own affairs from other people.

Even once Mercury is back up to direct motion, Mars and Pluto combine on the 26th so don’t underestimate the power of other people and keep your finances above board. That is, unless you’re the one who’s actively involved in underhand goings on.

Ideally, however, you want to get strong people on your side and ensure that justice is done. You’ll find allies through your place of work and together with others or working as a team, you’re more likely to be successful. Good questions to ask yourself this month are who you’re trying to hold off and where your competition lies.

Notice too what happens on or around the 5th and 25th when your ruler Mercury clashes with Saturn, first retrograde and then direct. Both planetary events indicate some kind of obstacle or limitation, when you’ll know what you can and can’t achieve. This is a time to conserve your money where possible.

The Full Moon on the 30th could be revealing too as it takes place in Scorpio and your work sector. This date is favourable for a job application or hearing back from an employer. Take good care of your health and well-being and, if in doubt, aim for security in your life.

Once Mercury turns direct in Aries on the 15th, there’s a whoosh of energy in this part of your horoscope. You might hear from a friend who’d gone quiet on you or perhaps you can sort out a friendship difficulty.

Mercury’s change of direction tends to bring new information to light which can be valuable for you. Plus, there’s a New Moon in Aries the following day on the 16th, a symbol of new beginnings. As this New Moon is closely aligned with Uranus, this indicates a switch of allegiance, either moving away from a group or finding the person who can help.

Use the Mercury retrograde phase to consider your options. Whether you’re looking for a new group to join, you’re asking for a loan or there’s some other factor around networking and finances, act fast mid-month. Don’t stick with who or what you know, instead look out for the person or group or society that opens up to you during the exciting astrology in the middle of April.

If you do feel at times this month that you’re on a hamster wheel going round and round getting nowhere, rather than try and fix things logically, take time out. Note that the planet of indulgence, Venus, is currently strong in Taurus and the most hidden sector of your horoscope.

This is lovely for a secret affair and indulging hidden pleasures. It’s ideal for taking the pace slow, being in nature, relaxing and making life simple. Do more of what you love and, if your mind’s prone to worry, be quiet and still.

The Sun also enters Taurus on the 20th which often means a key month of preparation for you, clearing the decks before the Sun’s move into Gemini a month later. If you’re a typical Gemini, you may be aware of your own rhythms and, quiet often, this means going quick, quick and then slow, slow. If events in April are crazy-making, deliberately take time out or do less later in the month.

Love too could be a welcome distraction once Venus moves into your star sign Gemini on the 24th. There’s pleasure to be had this month but it means adopting a slower pace otherwise you might miss out if you’re constantly firing on all cylinders and rushing at top speed.
