Capricorn January 2020

Capricorn, light

Capricorn (22 December – 20 January)

Eclipse Season

It’s always going to be an important month when you have an Eclipse triggering your star sign. The eclipse date is the 10th when there’s a Full Moon or Lunar Eclipse cutting across the Cancer/Capricorn axis of the zodiac.

This eclipse is part of a bigger eclipse cycle that began in July 2018 and completes in July 2020. It cuts across the sector of your horoscope which represents you on the one hand, your identity, your image and profile, your personal goals and aims. The other side of the spectrum represents your 1-to-1’s, your close relationships, both personal and professional.

As eclipses bring change, it’s unlikely that your relationships are going to be the same at the start of this eclipse cycle as they will be at the end. Therefore, tend to these areas of your life and look at where change is needed or where change is likely to happen.

Look closely at yourself too and decide whether you’re the person you want to be in a relationship, whether personal or professional. Have you lost sight of who you really are or do you wear another hat that no longer suits you in a significant 1-to-1? Also, notice who comes into your life during the eclipse as they are often turning points, moments of destiny, linked to both endings and new beginnings.

The theme is release and letting go, changing old habits or recognising deeply ingrained beliefs. There may be times this month when you feel stuck in your comfort zone. You might not want to embrace change, even if you suspect it’s for the better in the long run.

The Saturn-Pluto Conjunction

This theme is emphasised because of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction on the 12th. Saturn is your ruling planet and has been in Capricorn since December 2017. This combination feels final, whether you’re issuing an ultimatum or there’s another ending taking place. You may have to be cruel to be kind, to be firm but fair. Or perhaps, you’re confronting authority unwilling to put up with corruption or wrongdoings.

Certainly, you may have to consider what you need to give up in order to have the life you choose or be the person you want to be. It’s not easy astrology by any means but a ‘get real’ moment at the start of the new year. This would be a powerful time to give up a bad habit or release negativity.

Traditionally, you’re not advised to make major decisions on the day of the eclipse itself. Instead, see what occurs close to the eclipse date and the Saturn-Pluto conjunction. Then, wait a few days before taking action.

Money Moves

The star sign, Aquarius, is also active in January. Venus (relating) is here until the 13th, Mercury (communication) enters Aquarius on the 16th followed by the Sun (identity) on the 20th. Therefore, this indicates a busy time for money matters, for discussion and negotiation. Stay on top of your money situation and line up important meetings or interviews.

Be as objective as you can about money and possessions and step back from any emotional charge. Deal with the facts if you’re in the midst of financial change. It is important to be as informed as you can about money, whether you’re looking at your income and outgoings or you’re looking into new ways of making money. It’s an ideal month for a financial review and getting on top of money matters.

The best day to launch a new money-making initiative or project is the 24th, when there’s a New Moon in Aquarius, a symbol of new beginnings. Also, be aware that your financial success is closely linked to your personal intentions, your goals and aims. January is a microcosm of the bigger picture in 2020 as the planets start to shift from Capricorn (self) to Aquarius (money/collective).

Romance & Creative Vibes

There’s another shift in emphasis from the 13th as the planet of relating Venus enters Pisces. Pisces rules communication in your horoscope. It’s about your local community and connections. This is the time to spread your net wide, to extend your social network, share ideas, learn and pass on what you know.

Pisces rules education, learning and knowledge in your horoscope. Neptune, Pisces’ ruler, is in this same sector of your chart so don’t only consider learning or gaining knowledge for practical reasons.

Pisces is romantic and you may want to lose yourself in the realm of the imagination or be inspired by poetry, music, art or film. There’s a dreamy quality to events in the second half of the month when you tap into this potentially artistic and creative vibe.

There is a flip side to Neptune, which potentially distorts the truth. Neptune is the planet of illusion so be wary of being seduced or fooled by others during this period. It could, however, help you to be persuasive yourself and find an inspirational sales technique.

Potentially, this may be an emotional time for you. Neptune rules all things watery, including tears, so you may want to express your feelings more than usual and let them go. Neptune is strongest on the 8th and 27th of the month which could out to be romantic dates for you, whether you’re already in a relationship or meeting someone new.

Mars Sagittarius

Finally, action planet Mars enters Sagittarius and the most hidden sector of your horoscope on the 3rd. This highlights your inner world, whether your mind is racing ten to the dozen or you’re dealing with a personal issue. Try to slow things down if this is the case and learn to relax or meditate. Pursuing a spiritual path is one way of activating Mars in this part of your chart.

You may need to care and nurture other people now, whether you’re looking after those in need or reaching out to the family. This may include a sibling or someone in a position of care. Sometimes, themes of sacrifice or surrender play out when you have a key planet in the sign previous to your own.
