Cancer (21 June-22 July)
It’s a powerful start to 2014 with not one but two New Moons taking place this month, the first of which falls on the 1st. This is a brilliant date to create new intentions and to make New Year resolutions that you can stick to.
The New Moon on the 1st falls in your opposite sign of Capricorn and alongside the Sun and Moon you’ll find Mercury (communication) and Pluto (loss/power).
This is an extremely potent line up in your opposite sign highlighting relationships and your one-to-ones. When Mercury and Pluto combine words have power and you may find it easier to commit or quit and more importantly not to go back on your word.
I expect some of you will be making powerful New Year resolutions that involve a partner, romantic or otherwise, and what’s especially important for you is knowing that whatever you decide, you can and will stick to it. Being ruled by the Moon which waxes and wanes, your emotions fluctuate meaning you change your mind often. This time around whatever you decide at the start of this New Year, whether you’re in or out of a relationship, it’s final.
Relationships are prominent now for another reason and this is because Venus, planet of love, is not only in Capricorn and your relationship sector but it’s retrograde i.e. on go slow until the 31st. This feels like returning to your past in some way whether an ex reappears in your life or you find yourself thinking about a childhood sweetheart. Whatever your personal situation, if there’s something that’s deeply important to you with regard to love and relationships, here’s your chance to either let go and move on or commit and stay strong.
The Full Moon on the 16th highlights the same areas of your life so again it’s about the people in your life and also the people you’ve lost over the years. Expect this to be an emotional month but also an important month to reorient yourself, to heal the past and to get clear about what lies ahead.
You currently have Jupiter on your side in your sign of Cancer until the summer. Jupiter brings good things your way as it’s the planet of good fortune and opportunity. The best news is that Jupiter’s strong in Cancer as it’s the planet of protection in the sign of nurturing. So this is about defending what’s valuable to you, whether it’s your family, your home or someone or something else that matters to you deeply.
There’s a sense with this Jupiter in Cancer that your home is where your heart is and that true security allows you the freedom and space to move. So be good to yourself and the ones you love and create the changes that are necessary to ensure your life’s as secure and happy as it can be.
Family as always play a key role in your life this month and also in your relationship decisions. Mars, the planet of action and energy, is in Libra down at the base of your chart ruling your home, your family, your past and where you come from. This is where you want to apply your energy whether you’re looking for a new home or you want to reconnect with family.
You may be starting building work, redesigning where you live or simply have more people living at home than usual. Mars is forging ahead until the beginning of March so this month and next are ideal to organise and arrange any home or family-related events.
As the month progresses, both Mercury and the Sun move into Aquarius on the 11th and 20th respectively highlighting joint finances and money matters. This is your chance to get your cash situation in order whether you’re seeking financial advice, taking out a loan or dealing with a debt situation.
Extra work coming in on or around the 17th or 29th may be unexpected and can help you out financially. These are good dates to look for work and to use the internet either for job hunting or selling or promoting purposes. You’re being asked to do things differently with Uranus in your career sector especially if you find that you’re craving space and freedom from the 9-to5.
The turning point of the month happens on the 30th/31st for a number of reasons. Firstly, there’s a New Moon in Aquarius on the 30th, a brilliant date to create new intentions around money. Then on the 31st, Venus turns direct in Capricorn and there’s a Jupiter-Pluto opposition cutting across the Cancer-Capricorn axis of your horoscope.
This feels like putting yourself first and saying goodbye to any toxic relationship, personal or professional, that no longer works for you. Pluto can represent obsession or jealousy and the more difficult emotions that relationships arouse.
So expect an intense end to the month but know that again it’s a chance to let go of anything that no longer works for you.
