Taurus (20 April-20 May)
The third house of your chart is strong as August begins and this is the sector that rules communication, travel, transport, siblings, neighbours and your local community. Often when planets are in your third house, you find you’re busier than usual and more connected to the people and places around you.
There’s a green light happening in one or more of these areas as well so take note of what happens on the weekend of the 3rd/4th August. This is when Mercury, planet of communication, is finally out of its Shadow phase, which means it’s at the same place in the heavens as it was when Mercury turned retrograde on June 26th.
You may be able to pick up where you left off back then or try again with some form of communication or interaction that never got off the ground first time around. A bumpy period for communications is now past and wherever in your life information got held up or misunderstandings took place, all stations are go.
In addition, Mars the planet of action is also in Cancer along with Jupiter, planet of opportunity and expansion. So if ever there was a time to get your message across, this is it. Whether you want to talk to someone face-to-face, launch a website or tell people all about yourself or what you have to sell, here’s your chance. Connect, network, gossip, chat and spread the word.
Jupiter’s influence may also connect you with overseas and global connections and if there’s something new you want to study, go for it. The third house rules schools and learning.
This is also a month when you may be questioning what you believe in and find that you want to explore a deeper purpose to life and expand your learning through philosophy, world politics or spirituality. This is because Jupiter meets up with the Uranus-Pluto square this month: Jupiter opposes Pluto on the 7th and squares Uranus on the 21st. The Uranus-Pluto square symbolises profound change, getting rid of what’s old and outdated and embracing what’s new.
The two planets in square have been a difficult energy but Jupiter’s powerful in Cancer as it’s the planet of protection in the sign of nurturing. Jupiter rules hope and faith so nurture your dreams and ensure that you have someone or something in your life which is big and powerful and helps you find meaning and your place in the world.
Venus your ruler also comes into play this month from the 24th-27th when it makes the fourth part of a cardinal Grand Cross in the heavens. Venus is then in Libra ruling your work, your health and your lifestyle and you may find yourself making radical changes at this time, perhaps because they’re urgent and necessary or simply because you want to live a better life. It’s a sparky, unpredictable energy but offers up the prospect of positive change.
Another reason why this is an important month for you is because on the 21st there’s the second of two Full Moons in Aquarius, the sign at the top of your chart, ruling your career and where you’re heading. The first was last month on July 22nd and this is quite unusual to find two Full Moons in the same sign one month after the other. A Full Moon symbolises achievement, a completion, things coming full circle and whether in life or emotionally, there’s a deep process going on. The more that you do in life which is aligned with who you are and what you believe, the more fulfilled you’re going to be. If things are wrong, change them as best you can and if you know you’re on track, do more of it.
Up until the 16th Venus is in your fellow earth sign of Virgo and this puts the focus on the pleasurable side of life. You want to have fun when Venus is in this sector of your chart and simple sensual pleasures are where it’s at. Be flirtatious, do what you enjoy, hang out with your kids or instigate a new romance. Being one of the earth signs, you may instinctively know that you don’t need a lot in life in order to be happy but that there are enough simple pleasures on a daily basis to sustain you and through which you can find enjoyment.
Home and family too are becoming more important or significant in your life now and with both the Sun and Mercury and Mars moving into and out of Leo this month, there’s a strong focus down at the base of your horoscope. It may only take small actions to trigger a chain reaction that will have a huge effect on your life come next summer when Jupiter moves into Leo. This may involve moving home, a new addition to the family or a trip down memory lane. You may not even see the signs but in 12 months time you’ll realise that what takes place now sowed the seeds for something big and glorious to emerge further down the line.
