The Men’s Tennis Australian Open 2017

Screen Shot 2017-01-17 at 08.06.01Update: Sunday 29th January 2017.

What an amazing tournament! Sometimes the simplest astrology is the best. Saturn conjunct the Midheaven of the tournament chart suggested an experienced player to win. Saturn’s the ‘older’ planet and in the end, two 35 year olds held aloft the trophies – Serena Williams in the women’s and Roger Federer in the men’s.

My prediction for Andy Murray to win was wide of the mark but there was some fascinating astrology which unfolded as the tournament progressed. I’ve added more to the article in bold type below. See you all again at the French Open and thank you for all your comments making this such a fun and interesting tennis/astrology forum.

What a difference an hour makes! I didn’t have a lot of time to look at the astrology for the Australian Open 2017 as January is one of my busiest months work-wise.

I first posted a chart for the start of the tournament on January 16 2017 which was one hour out. The new chart with the correct start time (see left) makes a whole lot more sense. Here’s my update on the astrology for the tournament and the players’ astrology.

Tournament Chart

The tournament chart is a moment in time which is interpreted symbolically to see if the astrology at the start of the tournament can tell us more about what to expect over the next two weeks.

The chart Ascendant, the sign that’s rising on the horizon, is Pisces which means the traditional ruler is Jupiter in Libra. What’s interesting about Jupiter right now is that it’s caught up in a dynamic planetary pattern that’s ground-breaking positive energy. Jupiter opposes Uranus, on its own an enthusiastic, freedom-loving, impulsive combination but both planets make positive aspects to Saturn. This harnesses the wild energy producing something special.

This lucky combination of Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn which dominated at the end of December 2016 remains in aspect throughout January and Saturn is conjunct the tournament chart’s Sagittarius Midheaven. So any player with key planets/angles tapping into this ‘break through’ planetary energy – Jupiter at 22 ย Libra opposite Uranus at 20 Aries, Saturn at 23 Sagittarius sextile Jupiter & trine Uranus – has the planets on their side.

Note too that the Moon is in efficient Virgo moving towards a trine aspect with Pluto in Capricorn in the 10th house (career/success). Both astrological factors involving the chart ruler Jupiter and the Moon favour a strong tournament and the favourites, more likely than not, doing well.

n.b. the Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn combination is perhaps also about the weather which has already been dubbed the ‘wild card’ of the tournament as the temperatures in Melbourne are currently so erratic.

Andy Murray – b. May 15 1987, 2:10 pm, Glasgow, UK

Sun Taurus. Andy Murray had an amazing 2016. A slow and steady Taurus, he took a long time getting to the top of his game but he finally made the no. 1 spot. Here’s an article I wrote about Andy inspired by his performance: Andy Murray World no. 1: How to be a Taurus Superstar.

2016 was Andy’s Saturn Return, when the planet linked to long-term achievement, returned to the place it was in the zodiac when he was born. As well as his success on the tennis court, he got married, became a father and received a title to his name – pretty impressive all round.

Andy was born under a stunning set of fire trines with five key planets in Aries & Sagittarius so he’s definitely picking up the stunning astrology between Jupiter in Libra, Uranus in Aries & Saturn in Sagittarius. In fact his natal Moon is 21 Sagittarius 43, almost exactly conjunct the Midheaven of the tournament chart. In addition, the Moon at 11 Virgo is close to his own Ascendant at 14 Virgo. His astrology is strong.ย n.b. he lost to Mischa Zverev who also had amazing astrology tapping into the Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus combination (see below).

Novak Djokovic – b. May 22 1987, 11:25 pm, Belgrade, Yugoslavia.

Sun Gemini. Novak was born only one week after Andy Murray and in true Gemini style, rose up the rankings quickly. It was the first half of 2016 that was epic for him as he achieved the ‘Nole Slam’ and by winning the 2016 French Open he held all four Grand Slam titles. However, Pluto going back and forth over his Capricorn Ascendant played out as a year of extremes and losing his no. 1 spot to Andy Murray may have caused personal pain (Pluto cnj ASC).

Like Andy, Novak has a stunning trine aspect between Jupiter in Aries and Saturn in Sagittarius and he came out on top at Doha earlier this month beating Andy in the final. Yet with his Jupiter and Saturn at 19 degrees Aries/Sagittarius respectively, his astrology isn’t as strong as Andy’s right now.

Rafael Nadal – b. June 3 1986, 7:10 pm, Manacor, Spain

Sun Gemini. Rafael’s tennis career has been dogged by injury. Astrologically it’s got to help him that Saturn has now moved out of his 1st house as this seemed to coincide with the more difficult times for him physically. This triggered his own Sun-Saturn opposition, Saturn weakening his physical body (1st house) and vitality (the Sun). He turned 30 last year so it’s going to be a tough call for him to win another Grand Slam, although always possible.

He has the breakthrough planet Uranus now exactly trine his own natal Uranus so expect surprises. In fact his natal Uranus is at 20 Sagittarius 42 and sits close to the Midheaven (success point) of the tournament chart. We have seen this symbolism be successful once before (Wawrinka at the French Open 2015) so it’s a lucky omen for him.

However in his birth chart, Rafa has a Jupiter-Uranus square aspect and Mars is exactly conjunct his natal Jupiter at 20 Pisces. This is a wounded Mars as Chiron, the ‘wounded healer’ asteroid is at the same place in the heavens. Here’s hoping he doesn’t pick up an injury and has to make a sudden exit.ย Rafa – runner up – what an amazing comeback after injury. I’m not going to so easily dismiss the over 30’s or the injury prone in futureย predictions. I’m still not convinced by Chiron transits!

Roger Federer – b. August 8 1981, 8:40 am, Basel, Switzerland

Sun Leo. At age 35, Roger enters the Australian Open as no. 17 seed. He missed a good part of the 2016 season due to injury and must surely be considering this tournament as a chance to get back in his stride. Interesting that the Moon at 11 Virgo in the tournament chart is exactly conjunct his Ascendant at 11 Virgo. No doubt, he’s happy to be back.

The Jupiter-Saturn sextile has only just moved away from his own Neptune-Pluto sextile – Neptune 22 Sagittarius, Pluto 21 Libra. These planets are linked to home & family, money & values in his chart. It would be good to see him playing well once again.ย Champion! Legend! During the tournament it was revealed that Roger had an incredible progression of Mercury (his career planet) exactly conjunct his progressed Jupiter (success planet) within 2′ arc. His 18th Grand Slam victory at the age of 35 after 6 months off the circuit last year. Just remarkable…

The Best of the Rest

Stanislas Wawrinka – b. March 28 1985, 11:05 am, Lausanne, Switzerland

Sun Aries. Another player with a stunning fire trine between Mercury and Venus at 17 & 18 Aries respectively trine Uranus at 17 Sagittarius. It’s this combination which has proved successful for Stan when there have been favourable transits. If anything, the current ‘lucky’ combination of Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn is a little wide of the mark by degree.

There is however a New Moon on January 28 2017 at 8 Aquarius 15, the day before the final, and this does fall close to his natal Jupiter at 10 Aquarius 20, the planet which rules his Pisces Midheaven (success point). It’s a good omen if he makes it this far into the tournament.ย Stan bowed out before the New Moon so it didn’t help him in the end.

Dan Evans – b. May 23 1990, time unknown, Birmingham, UK

Sun Gemini. The right star sign for a tennis player, Dan has beaten some big names in recent times. He’s going to face Marin Cilic in the 2nd round of the Ausopen which will be a tall order.

However, he does have his natal Venus at 21 Aries so the Jupiter-Uranus opposition is blowing it wide open. Plus with his Mars at 24 Pisces it will be his Mars return during the tournament. This takes place approximately once every 2 years and often gives a surge in energy.ย A terrific tournament for Dan Evans – he knocked out the no. 7 seed, Cilic and the no. 27 seed, Tomic before losing to Tsonga in Round 4.

Richard Gasquet – b. June 18 1986, 9:00 am, Serignan du Comt, France

Sun Gemini. A natal Sun-Uranus opposition in his chart, Richard’s Uranus is at 20 Sagittarius 06 so it picks up the fair wind of Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn. Another contender with Uranus conjunct the Midheaven of the tournament chart.

In addition, his Jupiter is at 21 Pisces 54 conjunct the Ascendant of the tournament chart. So he’s picking up on the dynamic planetary energy as the tournament begins. It’s a similar scenario to Rafa’s astrology – see above.

Philipp Kohlschreiber – b. October 16 1983, time unknown, Augsburg, Germany

Sun Libra. Philipp’s Sun is at 22 Libra so he currently has Jupiter directly on it. With no time of birth, it’s hard to tell what the Sun rules in his natal chart but it’s certainly a time when opportunity beckons.

Sam Querrey – b. October 7 1987, time unknown, Las Vegas, USA

Sun Libra. Sam is another Sun Libra so he has lucky Jupiter in his sign, although with his Sun at 13 Libra, Jupiter is wide of the mark right now. He does however have a lovely natal Jupiter-Uranus trine aspect in his chart with Jupiter at 26 Aries and Uranus at 23 Sagittarius. The current Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn astrology will boost his natal potential.

Mischa Zverev – b. August 22 1987, time unknown, Moscow, Russia

Sun Leo. Grand Fire trine in his chart with Sun/Mars/Venus at 28/29 Leo trine Jupiter at 29 Aries and Uranus at 22 Sagittarius. Like Rafa, Mischa’s Uranus is conjunct the Midheaven of the tournament chart. That lucky Grand fire trine will be triggered in a good way throughout 2017.

Astrologer’s Prediction

Andy Murray is currently the one to beat and his astrology ties in beautifully to the tournament chart. He has the opportunity to win his first Australian Open. Will he take it?

  1. Thanks Sally, interesting that the Moon at 11 Virgo in the tournament chart is exactly conjunct Roger’s Ascendant at 11 Virgo. Could this be significant? Also with no clear fav there could be a a surprise winner…wow!
    Keep us posted!

    1. hi Deidre, yes that is interesting about the Moon/Ascendant conjunction, isn’t it! Plus he has the Jupiter-Saturn sextile which is strong on his own Neptune-Pluto sextile. They are only generational planets and seem more linked to home/family & money for him but even so, I like it!

  2. Thank you very much for another Grand Slam prediction, Sally! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ We are happy about you coming back, appreciating your passionate work. Sounds like an interesting astrology at Melbourne. Kind regards, Patrick

    1. Thanks Patrick. I am rewriting today as the tournament started an hour earlier. Changes the tournament chart significantly.

  3. Hola Sally.

Me parece que subiste la carta con horario equivocado. ยฟTuviste en cuenta que en verano en Australia se le agrega una hora? La correcta es UTC/GMT +11 hs. Ascendente 21ยบ Piscis.

    1. hi Juan, thank you for confirming. I had someone else say that the start time was an hour earlier than I thought. I’m rewriting the article today. The new chart makes much more sense for the astrology. best, Sally

    1. hi Mac, good to hear from you. Some changes to be made today to the astrology! I was too hasty yesterday. best, Sally

    1. hi, thank you for your comment. Some changes will be made today to the astrology as I was an hour out with the tournament chart.

  4. Jupiter in his star sign Libra boosts Maren Cilic since September as he rised to a career high ATP 6 reaching the Davis Cup final in Decembre. The dramatic loss against Del Potro, the cup before his eyes 2 sets up before, might gave him extra drive for the next big thing. His first round 5-setter might help to heal this Decembre upset as things turned his way yesterday.

There’s Cilic’s ruling planet Venus, conjunct natal North Node at the tournament’s opener. In a possible quarter the Croation faces Wawrinka supported by Sun trine natal Sun, exact at 25th. At final’s time, MC ruler, again limelight Venus, conjunct his natal Descendant and MC ruler Saturn of the opening chart conjunct his natal IC. His progressed Venus conjunct natal Sun precisely 0,09 at final’s day.

Tomas Berdych has Jupiter sit on his Midheaven throughout the 2 weeks if born 2:26 PM. With this Libra MC – Tomas always appeared to be too “harmonic” with the Top Dogs to beat them – Uranus was conjunct his Aries IC at the end of 2016 when he suffered Appendix issues twice. Maybe some private issues? Often personal problems/injuries are followed by great success as players have developed personally. Hiring Goran Ivanisevic could speak for a reawakening of Berdych. Sun conjunct natal Jupiter would help him in the semis against Cilic.

As you do, Sally, I also have an eye on German Phillip Kohlschreiber with Jupiter conjunct natal Sun. Kohlschreiber would face Nadal in forth round. At 24th, both player’s enjoy conjunctions on their natal Jupiter: the Moon hits Kohli’s and Venus conjunct Nadal’s. In the end, with Berdych and “Kohli”, I am not sure how strongly Jupiter will play out for both as it regenerates at it’s turning point at 22 Libra. It rather might indicate career turns further unfolding this season.

I share Sally’s promising opinion about Rafa, who I assume to face Maren at final. I’ve seen players succeed multiple times with Uranus trine Uranus as Stan did at Paris 2015. The Spanish recently back in form, MC also hits his natal Uranus at the opening chart triggered by natal squared Jupiter. Transiting Jupiter in tensioned square aspect to natal Mars at final is one reason for me preferring Cilic as Champion. If predicted right, Cilic to be the new ATP 3 at 30th January. Nadal back to ATP 5. Murray would lose No. 1 to Djokovic again who I expect to fail versus Rafa.

    1. Hola Patrick!

Cual es la hora de nacimiento de Marin Cilic? 05:00 am? Asc 24ยบ Virgo? Estรก oficialmente confirmado?

Hay varias cartas de Cilic. Otra con Asc 6ยบ Tauro. Y otra con Asc 25ยบ Libra.

    2. Thanks for sharing your astrology, Patrick. Not sure I agree about Cilic but then I don’t have a confirmed birth time for him. Do you have more information about both Berdych and Cilic and where their birth times are from? That would be really helpful.
I’m really intrigued about Rafa with his astrology and would love him to do well. best, Sally

      1. Hi Sally, I calculated this birth time for Berdych analysing his career titles. Cilic’s birth time from 5:00 A.M. works nicely and precisely with his most successful events on tour. Remember you already used it and have seen it once an astrological website, although astrotheme shows birth time unknown. I absolutely agree with Nadal.

  5. Thanks Patrick.

Sally, can you relate Patrick’s analysis to yours for Rafa, as you say Stan won in Paris in 2015 with same astrology, do you see Rafa can win in Melbourne? As Saturn has changed now, do you see Rafa winning a slam this year and back in top 4 ?

    1. hi Rafafan, I haven’t looked in-depth at Rafa’s astrology. I just haven’t had time this month. It’s been a quick glance at which astrology stands out. I love his astrology for this tournament, apart from the fact that Chiron is involved too. It’s linked to wounds and healing so I think this tournament will be a test to see whether he is back on top form and yes, Saturn really does help now having left his 1st house! About time…
Chiron was discovered in 1977 and I hadn’t used it until recently. With the astrology I want to see it working and Chiron is beginning to make its mark that’s why I’m starting to use it too.
      Hope that helps. best, Sally

      1. Thanks Sally.

So do you see Rafa go deep in Australian open ? Also if he reaches final, any chance he has of winning it ? I desperately want him to win a major this year.

        1. His astrology is exciting for sure. My one question mark with him is the fact that Chiron is pulled in to the Mars transit of his Jupiter as the tournament began. Without Chiron, I’d say yes, he definitely has the surprise factor on his side.

  6. hello sally what is the correct time of the tournament start is it 10.00am austrialian time or 11.00am australian time

      1. Sally, your chart above seems right now. The start time Melbourne was 11 AM yet. Should be 11 hours difference to London..

      2. the chart you have given is for 11.00am australian time which is correct as that is the time the tournament started but you mention you have gone for 10.00am time. i am a little confused.can you clarify please.

        1. I think I confused myself trying to get the right time/chart. Others are now in agreement that I have the correct chart for the start of the tournament.

  7. Hi Sally, it’s currently daylight savings in Melbourne. Should the chart be AEDT time? I see you used this for last years chart. AEST is Australian Eastern Standard time.

    1. hi Lyndel, my astrology computer package does the correct time automatically. It’s the right chart for the tournament. Thanks for checking. best, Sally

  8. Hi Sally,

what do you think about “turning point” Pholus in 10th house near the tournament chart’s Midheaven? Since a while I observe Pholus playing a role at special events for players. I have a hunch that this Australian Open could offer some surprises as of second raw players. Thanks for your opinion!

    1. hi Patrick, I don’t use Pholus so I can’t comment on what it means. There certainly have been a few surprises already though – Cilic/Djokovic.

  9. So Cilic loses to Evans who Sally predicted might do something this tournament

” However, he does have his natal Venus at 21 Aries so the Jupiter-Uranus opposition is blowing it wide open. Plus with his Mars at 24 Pisces it will be his Mars return during the tournament. This takes place approximately once every 2 years and often gives a surge in energy.”

    1. I know! Go Dan…. The Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn combination definitely working well for him beating the no. 7 seed.

    1. I didn’t see the match but Djokovic’ ups and downs are continuing. It will be really interesting to see if he can come back at the French Open, one year after his last Grand Slam victory.

      1. Hi Sally,

        Happy New Year!

I wonder what is Djokovic’s personal astrology overall in the next few months?

By save 5 match points beat Fernando V and showed a great perfomance in the final against a very in-form Murray two weeks ago in Doha, I thought the Djokovic used to be was coming back, at least on the way. That is why I assumed that his astrology is recovering from the second half of 2016. Now quite confused about what happened in AO, according to your analyses, his personal astrology is not bad at all right now, just not stronger compare to Murrays.

        Best,
        Linda C

        1. hi Linda, thank you for your comment. Even though Djokovic & Murray are one week apart in time, their birth charts look very different and that has a lot to do with the time they were born. They have both achieved great things in their Saturn Return year (2016) but it’s the Pluto factor which is kicking in heavier for Djokovic than Murray. Pluto sits on his Midheaven (career point) so it’s powerful in his career whereas for Andy it’s linked to different areas of his life. I don’t have time to look at each individual’s player chart in-depth for the year ahead so I tend to base my predictions on the astrology for each Grand Slam tournament combined with their most obvious astrology. I will be interested to see what happens for Djokovic moving forward. I think this is becoming a mental thing for him and he still has Pluto close to his Ascendant, the most personal point in the birth chart. Hope that helps. best, Sally

    1. I think Murray’s is stronger as he has his Moon at the same degree as the tournament chart’s Midheaven, hence my ‘winner’ prediction. Having said that, Rafa’s astrology is very exciting. I know they’re going to meet at some point, aren’t they, if they both get through? Quarter finals perhaps.

    1. I check out all the top seeds birth charts. I have no time of birth for Dimitrov so without that it’s not a complete prediction but nothing leapt out as special for this tournament.

    1. No, I didn’t see anything in Dimitrov’s chart that linked in to the current astrology. No time of birth though. Why do you think Jupiter will help? He’s a Sun Taurus and Jupiter’s not making any key transits right now. He’s lucky in love though by the look of things now he’s sweet with Nicole Scherzinger – Sun Cancer. Nice match of Sun signs ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. This from astrologer Don Murray for 2017

Novak…Tennis gun suffering major reversals from Pluto-Jupiter attack until Oct 018. Feb, May and Dec unproductive in 017.

Murray…Incredible slowdown for the tennis champ with Uranus-Venus, Saturn-Mars and Pluto-Jupiter complications. Notable in Jan, Feb, May, June, July, Aug, Sept, Nov.

Federer…Major Improvement for tennis champ with Pluto-Venus and Neptune-Mars trines. Jan, May, July,Nov and Feb 018 positive before Uranus-Node downers in June, Sept 018.

Nadal( nothing in 2017) but gave this for 2016….Major off-year for the tennis champ with Pluto-Venus attacks in Jan, July, Nov. Uranus-Mars negativity lowers the energy in May, Oct as well

    1. Thanks for posting this, Deidre. Always interesting to see what other astrologers say. Some of it is obviously spot on, although not sure I agree with all his astrology. Will be interesting to see how both Murray and Federer fare in particular in relation to his predictions. best, Sally

    2. Pluto square Jupiter already ongoingsince months for Murray and affecting him only positively so far.
Wonder if it affects Novak with same Jupiter (born one week later) differently.

      1. Yes, it affects Novak more because Pluto is at a more sensitive place in Djokovic’ chart, his Ascendant. Plus, Jupiter rules Andy’s 7th (relationship) and 4th (home/family) houses in his birth chart. When Pluto was exactly square Andy’s Jupiter last April, I imagine he was missing being away from his family as his baby was born in February 2016. Pluto can symbolise absence.

  11. I have a feeling Rafa may win the French and is in the up. I notice Pluto will be conjunction his mars in the. It too distant future. Won’t this give him incredible energy and drive Sally? I also notice that with a slightly earlier birth time his midheaven is conjunction royal star regulars at 29 Leo. He is rather special. Any thoughts?

    1. Sorry about the grammar. It’s the silly auto correct as I’m using an iPad. So annoying as English is my first language’

    2. hi Lesley, Rafa’s birth time is one of those that’s still hotly debated. The respected data sites have his birth time from his birth certificate as 6:20pm although that’s not what’s been said in the media, hence why I use a 7:10pm birth chart. The 6:20pm time makes his Midheaven 17 Leo. It doesn’t deter from this tournament’s prediction however as a lot of the astrological data remains the same and isn’t linked to this point in the chart.
Re. Pluto conjunct Mars – it can swing either way as we’ve seen with Djokovic with Pluto on his Ascendant. It’s often a time of extremes. Rafa’s Mars in Capricorn is the ‘gladiator’, one of his strongest planets. As Pluto is so slow-moving however, this won’t take place until 2019.

      1. Thanks for that Sally. Is there anyone else you see coming through? I think Rafa will have his hands full with zverev later

        1. hi Lesley, the ones whose astrology I liked/stood out are mentioned in the article, so Rafa, Roger both strong. Dan Evans I liked and he’s been amazing this tournament – he knocked out Cilic & Tomic. It looks as if his reign is about to end however as he’s playing Tsonga and losing at the moment. Murray knocked out Querrey, both had good astrology, but Murray is now out. I don’t have M Zverev’s birth data who knocked out Murray – I might have to take a look. best, Sally

        2. I meant to add Wawrinka – New Moon! – it’s not until the 28th but very helpful for him if he stays in as it falls on his natal Jupiter, his career planet. best, Sally

  12. This is just a general question: there used to be an astrology thread at rogerfederer.com before the website changed. There a person named Becky who used to interpret his astrology. Is there another site where she posts?
    thanks

  13. Wow! Roger beat Berdych quite handily. He still has a lot of work to do but my he looks like he can take on anyone right now!

  14. Loved to see Federer the way he played against Berdych !!! A Federer of his own, ruthless, serving powerfully and ground strokes to perfection…If he plays at today’s level, he can take down anyone !!!

Sally, could you please check if there is a possibility of a Federer – Nadal final ?? It would be a treat to watch for every tennis fan ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. there is a very good chance of a murray nadal final if nadal gets past zverev in the 3rd round i do not see fed getting past murray in the quaterfinals.

      1. Both up against Zverev’s and Andy’s out to his! Don’t have M Zverev birth data – will take a look if I can. best, Sally

    2. Rafa & Roger both have good astrology this tournament and it’s great to see them both playing well again after injury. I had to go with a Murray prediction to win because he currently has strong astrology and it linked in to the tournament chart so beautifully but not to be this time. There are other players coming through who are new to me and I’m quite sure there won’t be times of birth for them so it gets trickier to predict accurately. I shall comment where the astrology is relevant. best, Sally

  15. James, are you saying it by astrology or it’s just your view? If you say it by astrology who will win the final then, Nadal or Murray?

        1. Yes, shocked too. It’s turning out to be a tournament of surprises. Maybe Saturn conjunct the Midheaven is pertinent here – I thought it would help Andy as his Moon Sagittarius is at this same point and the magical Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn combination is currently lighting it up. But it’s gone the other way, Saturn shutting off the light. Out go the favourites, no. 1 & 2 seeds. Saturn doesn’t point to a new winner though, rather someone experienced who knows the ropes. Will be an exciting last few days. best, Sally

          1. i am very surprised murray lost may be only his opponents horoscope which if available will give the answer.it could be a nadal roger final this time.

  16. I don’t see anything about Kei who is playing Roger in the next round . Any predictions or is the match a toss up? I would love to see a Murray/Federer battle!

    1. I did look at Kei’s chart – Roger has the better astrology for this tournament but Kei is a Capricorn and he’s not going to give up. In fact, Kei has a stellium in Capricorn and they often do better the older they get. I’m sure a lot depends on Roger’s level of fitness – a tournament requires consistent stamina throughout and Roger had a big chunk of time off last year. Even the planets/stars can’t bestow invincibility ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. @Sally:

The standout predictions from your forecast I’ve seen till now is Djoko’s astrology isn’t that strong. He did fall early in the tournament. Also, Dan Evans doing great.

Rafa doing well too. Finally, after a long time he is playing without injury and with the tenacity, energy and ability he is known for. After almost 2 years.

What-is in my mind are -> Rafa vs Raonic QF, Rafa vs Dimitrov SF, Rafa vs Murray F. Also, Murray may meet Federer in QF and Wawrinka after that. If these were to happen, what are the probabilities, Sally?

    1. Thanks Anish. Andy’s out – my choice for the title – but the astrology is still showing well for some of the other players. I don’t work with probabilities because astrology is not a science. It’s based on scientific principles but ultimately it’s an art, a language that works on a different level that’s more closely aligned with intuition than the mind. It’s a strange thing to be doing these tennis predictions using astrology because usually I’m working with personal clients and the astrology gives them a fresh perspective on their lives. That’s when astrology can be incredibly insightful but these tennis predictions are fun and the astrology often ‘shows’, i.e. makes sense. I’m waiting to see what emerges next now my main prediction has been proved wrong. best, Sally

      1. Just yesterday night, before dozing off, while going through the stats I noticed Federer has won with Murray in their last 5 meetings despite Murray’s good period. Thought of mentioning it. But now Federer has made it 6 wins in their last 6 meetings. ๐Ÿ™‚ You didn’t actually mention anything negative about Federer’s astrology. So… let’s see. Maybe repeat of 2009 final on the cards? ๐Ÿ™‚

Nadal defeated Mischa Zverev in Brisbane. Mischa’s really doing some gr8 things now. Wonder how far he’ll go. His brother is who is more famous whom Nadal dispatched yesterday.

Some people would tell you astrology is a science. Also, depends what kind of astrology one believes in, I suppose. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Sally,

With your prediction and astrological telling from beginning to end of the tournament makes it that much more enjoyable. I am glad to see a few of my favourites still in the tournament (Roger, Milos, Dan, Denis). However, as much as I admire Stan, Roger and Nadal, it would be nice to see a new champion hold the cup. With that being said, may the best person win.

    1. Thanks Mac and it’s really lovely to hear that the astrological predictions make the tournament enjoyable. I’m looking forward to seeing who wins now my prediction is out. Going to be interesting. Will take stock once we know the final eight. Dan Evans is out to Tsonga after a brilliant tournament – as predicted ๐Ÿ™‚ – and Federer is struggling in the first set against Nishikori. It’s surely got to be a fitness/stamina thing with Roger now after being out for so many months. It would be a miracle for him to win but one I’d applaud!

    1. hi Lisa, I’ve just replied to Deidre about the best of the rest. Read the article again as it reveals more of the astrology for Rafa, Roger, Stan in particular. Once the final 8 is known, I’ll check out the data of the players I don’t yet have. Having said that, I’ll only comment if the astrology says anything amazing. If I can’t see it, I won’t comment. best, Sally

  20. It’s interesting you mention Kei having a stellium in Capricorn because so does Raonic. You’ve got me thinking this could be the tournament Milos finally wins a slam. I’d love Rafa to win but this isn’t his best surface and it’s hard for him against these big guys with the massive serves.

  22. Have a look at Zverev’s chart Sally. I don’t know the time but his Uranus is right next to the mc of toyrnament chart. This is rather exciting.

    1. Yes, it is rather exciting – his Dad’s chart too. I haven’t heard much about the Zverev family but they’re shining right now. Dad – Alexander Zverev (senior), b. Jan 22 1960 – Sun Aquarius, Venus/Jupiter conjunction at 23/24 Sagittarius – so tapping into the astrology for the tournament. Venus/Jupiter are gorgeous planets together – the benefics,i.e. the best two planets. Together they are about celebration, jubilation and the eldest son, Mischa, beat Andy Murray on his Dad’s birthday – nice present!
Mischa Zverev, b. August 22 1987 – Sun Leo, Grand Trine fire and 6 planets in fire signs (possibly 7 with the Moon – don’t know without time of birth). The majority of the planets late degrees so will continue to benefit from the Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn combination in 2017. And yes, his Uranus is 22 Sagittarius 45, very close to the Midheaven of the tournament chart. We’ve seen this astrology before – this springs surprises and he knocked out the no. 1 seed. Brilliant.
The youngest son, Alexander Zverev, b. April 20 1997 – Sun Taurus. Did well in this tournament but his chart doesn’t have the impact of his brother’s right now. Fascinating astrology for the Dad & older brother though.

  23. Hi Sally
If the chart is correct about Wawrinka he is my favourite to win. Jupiter and moon are lord of your mh and asc. And jupiter in libra is trine to moon in your lunar revolution and transit actually.
    Maxi

  24. Dear Sally,

Actually I was thinking in the past few days, I wonder if the tournament chart before you revised was the correct one, because the start time of AO this year is exactly the same as last year, 11am.

So I remind myself of how you interpreted that originial chart: The favorites won’t fare well in the tournament and the chart gives a nod to a past AO champion. And what happened in the past few days really make sense, right? The favorites Djokovic, Murray both all out, and there are Wawrinka, Nadal, Federer who are AO past champions remaining in the draw. Then you also mentioned about Wawarinka’s personal astrology will become very strong in a positive direction on Jan 28th. Can I assume that it is again a perfect tournament+personal astrology combination for Wawrinka? Thanks!

    Best,
    Linda

    1. Hi Linda, thank you for your comment. The old chart did seem to fit, at least if one of the past champions wins. Will be interesting to see. Maxi likes Wawrinka to win and Maxi is a good astrologer. The New Moon this weekend could prove to be the breakthrough moment for Wawrinka, if he’s still in by then. best, Sally

  26. I think winner will be amongst Rafa, Fed, Wawrinka, Roanic. Sally according to you whose among these men has stronger astrology? I wish its Rafa….

    1. It’s not an easy one to predict because more than half have key astrology which links in to the tournament chart, i.e. the astrology as the tournament began. In particular, Rafa, Roger, Mischa (Zverev) & David (Goffin). I mentioned Mischa’s astrology in a previous comment. David is a Sun Sagittarius with Venus at 24 Sagittarius, so again the Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn astrology is strong for him. Plus Wawrinka has the New Moon conjunct his career ruler, Jupiter, on Friday 27th in Australia. He’s just stormed into the semis against Tsonga so that New Moon does feel strong for him. A few of you on here going for Stan to win.

  27. What a tournament! Supporting the view with Stan as favorite now. Expecting the repetition of 2014 Stan versus Nadal. Stan Wawrinka Sun sextile Sun at Semis. The New Moon falling on his Jupiter, as you describe Sally, means also Sun conjunct natal Jupiter at final and there’s also Jupiter precisely trine natal Moon the last rounds.

Mischa Zverev returning at Top 50 is boosted by the development of his brother. Together they enjoy the work of a renowned athletic trainer former working for Murray. Born same year he recently had his Saturn Return as Murray did when achieving ATP 1. See Sally’s article, maybe brother Alex Zverev will become the next Taurus Superstar:

    http://www.sallykirkman.com/andy-murray-world-no-1-taurus-superstar/

Germany’s Number 1 in his age for years, Mischa Zverez has phenomenal aspects in his birth chart. Sally already describes his chart and how heavily Leo embossed he is with a competable Mars Venus conjunction also conjunct natal Sun and Mercury. These planets all falling on reigning fixed star Regulus (see Donald Trump’s Ascendant) and making a precise trine to Jupiter in fire Aries. Uranus in Sagittarius makes it a Grand trine in fire signs – WAO! Could also have a Leo Moon, yet Cancer would suit his shy manner? I guess this guy’s run is just beginning and North Node travelling over his Leo planets in 2017. This Regulus pattern makes me think about some great future years. Probably future Top 10 player. Good for tennis! With his Serve&Volley game it will be interesting to see how he will manage at Wimbledon. Avoiding baseline rallies and using strength of offensive net game his style could be compared with Raonic.

Mischa is another strong player born North Node Aries as Nadal, Djokovic, Murray. All these players have similiarities in their being, a certain shyness combined with a symphatic good values oriented character connects them, probably coming from their Libra South Node origin. The challenge for some of those players might be, more or less, to overcome shyness and have courage to get into their own craft while standing in limelight. Maybe one reason why not so developed player as Monfils, also NN Aries, struggle in big matches as he does once again against Nadal. As against Djokovic at NYC, he seems to inwardly be blocked from start on. His game would allow so much more though.

Saturn (conjunct tournament’s opener Midheaven) conjunct natal Uranus indicating personal change and breakthrough themes for Mischa in the beginning of 2017. This conjunction sextile Jupiter these days. Nico Rosberg recently became F1 Champion with vice versa Saturn conjunct Uranus – mabe a similiarity in these aspects.

      1. Rinku, Stan is my favorite with these nice Jupiter aspects. Sally also sees him strong with the New Moon on his his Midheaven ruler. Yet we will know better at Sunday – Nadal has good astrology this AO and who knows what the chart’s MC hit his natal planet of surprises Uranus trine transiting Uranus means. Would not rule him out. Yet his performance hasn’t been too much convincing with closed matches so far and he plays under Jupiter Mars square throughout the 2 weeks. Stan defensively looks better astrologically I guess.

    1. Hi Patrick and Sally!!!

Regarding Stan’s chart which birth time you have for him? The one i have is at 11h05 lausanne! So if it is this one moon transit should be at 11 degrees apart from his natal jupiter in the finals day!!! Iam not so sure is acting strongly since it should be closer within 3 to 5 degrees iam i correct?
although transiting jupiter is now trine to his natal Moon, his natal moon is in gemini which corresponds to his and tournament descendent part of the chart! So dont get where is the relation to the midheaven (success point) in stan chart!

In regard of nadal today he was not as sharp and scintilating as even 2 days ago but curiously transit moon is between today and tomorrow opposite to his sun so it might explain his lack of free play?

Iam not an expert iam just trying to learn a bit more since astrology seduces me a lot too!!!

Thanks and will be waiting for your thoughts!!!

      1. Hi Sally and Patrick again

To add more looking to nadals chart there is also transit jupiter sextil to his natal uranus and since this one is touching MH tournament chart is another positive aspect for him! If he reaches the final i would beh him to win. He wont go without a fight!

In my opinion i would wait nadal to pass through raonic and wawrinka to pass roger!!

Only after will be clear! The finals day astrology plays differentely for both of them but they must get to the final! ๐Ÿ˜‰

        Kind regards to all.

        1. Why would Nadal go through Wawrinka before meeting Roger when Wawrinka is in Roger’s half ๐Ÿ™ ?

Nadal is a lock for the final having to just go through Raonic and Dimitrov or Goffin to get there. If he faces Roger in the final, well, we all know how it will end. If he faces Stan it is a 50-50 assuming Stan isn’t in self destruction mode.

If Nadal wins this and completes the double career slam, that will be one heck of a lucky run, having avoided both Murray and Djoko. The next generation (Zverevs, Dimitrovs and Raonics) are as useless as they come and I’ll not change my opinion till one of them wins a slam and proves me wrong.

          1. Sam did get the draw right. He said Nadal will play Raonic next and then the winner of Goffin/Dimitrov. Yes, his side of the draw has opened up beautifully although you can’t count out the world no. 3 who’s never won a Grand Slam and will be keen now Murray & Djokovic have gone! Mind you, that must motivate all of them! Harsh calling the next generation ‘useless’. Mischa knocking out Murray was one heck of a coup! He must be thrilled.

          2. To Sally’s post below : No he didn’t.

I was responding to this line from his post above : “In my opinion i would wait nadal to pass through raonic and wawrinka to pass roger!!”

        2. Hi Sam,
Jupiter sextile Nadal’s Uranus is not quite precise – above 2 degrees. As Sally describes above, the New Moon at 28th is going to affect Stan positively happening the day before the final and he has already played into a groove before.
Jupiter is the ruler of Stan’s Midheaven and the Moon is ruler of his Ascendant in Cancer – standing for his physical self, so Jupiter trine natal Moon includes both his ruling planets to my understanding. Important is that besides the New Moon, transits Sun conjunct natal Jupiter (0,82) and Jupiter trine natal Moon (0,2) are precise and therefore affecting him strongly. His progressed Sun conjunct natal Mars 0,8 now even closer than at NYC 2016 (1,0). See also Stan’s astrology at last GS Saturn sextile natal Jupiter. Kind regards, Patrick

          1. Pero atenciรณn que la Luna de Wawrinka 23ยบ Geminis estรก recibiendo la oposiciรณn de Saturno 24ยบ Sagitario.

          2. Juan, yes, Saturn is almost exactly opposite Wawrinka’s Moon Gemini but that means Jupiter is also trine it and Uranus sextile it. I like this combination this month. It’s exciting. Where you previously got stuck/came undone (Saturn), you can find a new way to break through (Jupiter/Uranus). I’m seeing it work for clients which is why I focused on it in this prediction.

      2. hi Stan, thanks for your comment. The New Moon is on Friday 27th in Australia at 8 Aquarius so lighting up Stan’s natal Jupiter, his career planet (Pisces Midheaven). The Sun moves closer to his natal Jupiter on the day of the final as it’s at 9 Aquarius so his career planet is illuminated by the Sun & Moon – King & Queen of the planets. It’s strong astrology. Yes, I have the birth chart you use for Stan too.
The Midheaven that people are talking about is the Midheaven of the chart tournament – 21 Sagittarius 21 – and there are quite a few players with planets close to this degree. Stan won the Australian Open before when his natal Uranus was conjunct the Midheaven of the tournament chart. This time it’s slightly wide – his Uranus is 17 Sagittarius – but the Sun/Moon Aquarius is lovely for him. Hope that helps.
Re. Nadal, it may be that the Moon opposite his Sun weakens him in some way but it’s a minor testimony only. There’s stronger astrology for Nadal that’s positive. His Uranus is 20 Sagittarius 42 so very close to the tournament Midheaven. best, Sally

          1. Just checked – no, because Stan will be in the first semi final on the 26th. If he’d been playing the following day, the Moon would have been at 0 Aquarius moving ever closer towards the Sun…

        1. Interesting, Sally, that Nadal has same Midheaven conjunct natal Uranus this year as Stan did in the final 2014. One thing Rafa Fans might give hope seeing it as chance for revanche. I still have Stan’s astrology.

        2. Hi Sally and Patrick

Thanks for your replies! I love astrology!
I checked what you said Patrick you are indeed correct! Jupiter sextil uranus above 2 degrees! But still close plus his uranus is touching Midheaven of the tournament chart!
I love both of them playing (nadal and wawrinka) so either way in the finals i will be glad.
But Checking again nadal his chart with birth at 19h10 he will have trabsiting moon at 21 aquarius 9 in the days final which makes sextil his natal uranus at 20 sagitarius 42!! 1 degree is definitely to be felt! And moon sextile uranus brings positive surprises…
Then yes the transits for stan after the new moon are very good!

In relation for tomorrow match nadal raonic (nadal has trabsiting venus within one degree conjunt his natal jupiter) venus and jupiter conjunt as you lentioned before Sally is a lovely combination!
Iam just so curious how it will play out, because my gut tells me tomorrow will be decisive for nadal!

Thanks again Patrick and Sally. Sorry to insist again saying similar things is just ia, trying to understand the astrology itself ๐Ÿ™‚
          Kind regards

          1. Hi Sam, the Moon is at 25 degrees at final’s time 7.30 PM, so already 5 degrees apart from a sextile to Nadal’s Uranus. In the majority of GS final charts, transits for the Champion are very precise below 1 degree and that happens with Stan and his two Jupiter transits adding to the New Moon on his Jupiter at Semis. See also US Open 2016. Kind regards, Patrick

  28. What a tournament! Supporting the view with Stan as favorite now. Expecting the repetition of 2014 Stan versus Nadal. Stan Wawrinka Sun sextile Sun at Semis. 29. Hi,Sally

Now the final 8 has come out. So,Which is best?๐Ÿ˜Š
It seems no one can defeat Nadal, although I want Dimi to win.

      1. Maybe Nadal got some trouble, but he always win finally.
I really don’t like his style.I hope someone can defeat him, even in the final!
I don’t think the three 90s can pose a threat to him.

        1. the three 90’s? Not sure what you mean, Amy. I’d love Rafa to win – the comeback kid I’ve called him in the past ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. hi, I’ve just replied in a comment about the final 7 – Tsonga out. Some lovely astrology for five of them! I love that this tournament is wide open. Makes a refreshing change. best, Sally

  30. Raonic is looking strong. If Rafa’s not on top form that massive serve could beat him. Raonic has a stellim in Capricorn. Wonder if that Saturn on the tournament’s MC could signify a Cappy winning?

    1. hi Lesley, yes interesting that Raonic has a Capricorn stellium (same as Nishikori). No time of birth for Raonic and I would love to see his full chart. It was Capricorn time when the tournament began but the Sun is now in Aquarius so I suspect it will be the fire/air sign dynamics of Jupiter/Uranus/Saturn which will prevail. We shall see ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Raonic has never won a Grand Slam and he’s the world no. 3. He’s not my favourite player I have to say. I find him so serious to watch (that Capricorn stellium no doubt!) Without a time of birth for him, it’s hard to say whether he will win. Though Capricorns never give up! His astrology tied in better to the original chart I posted. Midheaven was 5 Capricorn and Raonic’s Sun is…. 5 Capricorn! best, Sally

  31. Hi Sally,

Once again thank you for the astrology for one more tennis championship! This one is intriguing for sure!
After checking nadal’s chart i would like to add something. Right now transiting venus is sitting conjunt to nadal’ s natal jupiter which should be very positive for the next few days! Though by the final’s day it will be 5 degrees away so not conjunt anymore. However, there is another element playing in his chart in the finals day! Transiting moon at 21 aquarius 9 will make a sextil to his natal uranus at 22 sagitarius 42! Isn’t this a new moon? And sextil to his natal uranus that seats close to MH in tournament chart wouldn’t add some positive for him?
To finish would like to have your opinion about chiron in his chart! Chiron is viewed as wound but also as healer! The fact nadal has had thoughout his career a unlucky slam at australia safe 2009 could not that mean that he could finally heal his self regarding the past wound experiences?

Sorry for such opinion! It may have nothing to do with it. I just would like to have your opinion about it.
    Many thanks!

    1. Thanks Sam. Yes, both Mars and Venus have gone over Nadal’s Jupiter during the tournament. I find Chiron tricky to interpret. Without seeing how it plays out in someone’s life, it’s a bit lame saying ‘you have a wound to heal’. We all have a wound to heal one way or another! However, with Nadal it does sit next to his Sun Gemini so perhaps it is more relevant to him than to others. In addition, transiting Chiron is now conjunct Nadal’s Jupiter in Pisces. Which is why I was unsure whether he might get injured this tournament. Although as you say it could be a time to ‘heal old wounds’. On the whole, I prefer to predict without Chiron and stick to the set of 10 planets plus nodes.
There is a New Moon at 8 Aquarius on Friday 27th/Saturday 28th depending where you live. I did draw up a chart for the final and the Moon is at 26 Aquarius so it’s too far on to impact Nadal’s chart. The Sun is at 9 Aquarius in the final tournament chart and heading for a conjunction with Wawrinka’s Jupiter, his career planet. Stronger astrology for Stan.

      1. Hi Sally

In regard to the moon in finals day are you sure it is at 26 aquarius? Tournament final is sunday 29th, iam correct? Moon will be at 21 aquarius. I checked it in astro.com! Maybe iam Wrong. But that was the reason why i was playing moon conjunct his natal uranus!

Iam sorry if iam wrong Sally.

P.s thans for the chiron explanation. I have checked it too and interpretations are very vague for chiron! Since ima not an expert is even more difficult.

        Thanks for your explanation.

        Regards, sam

        1. hi Sam, thanks for your comment. The Moon is the fastest-moving planetary body and covers 15 degrees approximately in one day. So by the time of the final on January 29th, 7:30 pm? the Moon is at 26 Aquarius. The time of day makes a big difference with the Moon. I’ve written more about Chiron in a comment this morning. Take a look. You might find it interesting. best, Sally

  32. I hope there’s a good chance for Roger to win the tournament. He’s my favorite player, my great shining Leo Sun King!

He has a couple secondary progressions involving favorable Jupiter now in range of effect. His progressed Ascendant is within half a degree of natal Jupiter, and his progressed Mercury is almost precisely conjunct his progressed Jupiter. Good stuff.

However, in the transits, Neptune is near his Descendant and could bring confusion or disappointment in dealing with an opponent? And then, old bugaboo Chiron is nearing the exact square to his Neptune, and this could also bring disappointment.

I wonder if the upcoming solar eclipse of Feb. 26 might be seen in effect. I’ve read that a solar eclipse can be felt a month or more before its occurrence. The eclipse will be in range of the conjunction to transiting Neptune. It will be close to Roger’s Descendant, there again, perhaps emphasizing opponents It will be close to Stan’s Midheaven in Pisces. I wonder if this could be another boost for Stan to win the tournament?

    1. No opponent has been more “wounding” and “confusing” to Federer than NADAL. ๐Ÿ™

Just when he thought he no longer have Djokovic to worry about!!! Will quote Morpheus from Matrix here….Fate, it seems is not without a sense of irony.

    2. hi Astrotennis. Interesting progressions for Roger – thank you for pointing them out. The progressed Ascendant is moving away from his natal Jupiter so not as strong as I would like but the progressed Mercury/Jupiter combination is brilliant! It’s very close and Mercury is his career planet (Gemini Midheaven). So yes, excellent for him, and here he is coming back strong after injury.
Neptune is on Roger’s Descendant but that might be about personal issues rather than opponents? Chiron too I’m unconvinced by, as it’s both about wounds and healing, but which? If Nadal survives this tournament without an injury, then I’ll probably make less of Chiron in future.
The theory about the eclipse is intriguing however and you’re not the first person to say they play out a month or two before they are exact. Again I’m not convinced as I think they tend to play out during the event and over the next few months rather than preceding. But it’s certainly possible. Good to note. best, Sally

      1. Thanks, Sally! It sounds like Roger does have a fairly good chance to win!

I’m so glad you are continuing your grand slam astrological presentations. So much information to ponder. All of us here love astrology and tennis!

        1. Thanks, AstroTennis. Yes, I’m glad I continued too. It’s been a fascinating tournament for both, tennis & the astrology. best, Sally

  33. Most open Grandslam this time it looks like. Atleast 4 favorites in my view Nadal, Wawrinka, Raonic, Federer. As Sally said it may be former champion, I am looking forward to Quarter finals (Wawrinka already won against Tsonga in Straight Sets !!)

    1. Yes, agreed. Just been commenting to say that a good few of them have strong astrology going forward. I think Stan is the one to beat.

  34. Most open Grandslam this time it looks like. Atleast 4 favorites in my view Nadal, Wawrinka, Raonic, Federer. As Sally said it may be former champion, I am looking forward to Quarter finals (Wawrinka already won against Tsonga in Straight Sets !!)

  35. I think Stan will take some stopping. I can’t see Raonic winning – never watch his matches unless he’s playing someone i like ie Nadal! I think the astrology is pointing towards Stan but Rafa and Roger are in with a shout. If Rafa gets through Raonic I believe he’ll be harder to beat.

    1. For me Nadal is epitome of hard work and my inspiration..this guy never gives up come what may..trying to always keep finding solutions

      1. Rinku i love him too and tend to lose interest when he’s knocked out plus he’s such a lovely guy. I realky want him to win but it’s not his best surface but with Rafa you just don’t know. Murray’s astrology was brilluant and looked what happened to him! We can only hope and see what plays out and at least Rafa will move up the rankings the further he goes.

        1. I am surprised to see so many fans for Nadal here. He is the guy known to break rules trying to win at all costs. Not to mention gamesmanship and taking those MTOs to break opponent’s momentum. He may have projected a humble guy image off the court but on court he isn’t exactly known for playing a fair game.

          1. That’s a terrible comment. Nadal is known the world over as a great champion. Even Andy Murray said he’s his favourite of the other players. You must be a Djokovuc fan or something. Along with Federer Nadal is the most loved player in the world.

          2. @LesleyJackson Please bring Djokovic into the topic, since he was out from the tournament already. As I know, fans who hate both Nadal and Djokovic the most are Fed fans. Thanks a lot:)

          3. @LesleyJackson Sorry, missed a word. I mean please leave Djokovic alone. Djokovic had suffered a lot of unfairness by the media and fans of other big 4 players. Thanks!

          4. I am a Federer admirer but it doesn’t mean I dislike Novak and Nadal. It is a matter of enjoying a player whose athletic skills I prefer to watch against any player.

          5. Linda C i have nothing against Novak Djokovic – he’s a great player. If you read what i said it was a comments that S must have been a Djokovic fan to be so nasty about Nadal. Because of their great rivalry in the past they do seem to polarise opinion.

          6. Was just stating facts about Nadal. You can’t deny he does all of it though casual fans who just cheer him on without paying attention to these things may not even be aware of it. Good for him if there are people willing to overlook all of that and cheer for him. And good for you.

          7. There are different levels of gamesmanship with many of the players, depending on their mood, the luck factor, their opponent, etc. You can’t single out one!

          8. You are serious fan and Nadal fans are casual. May be if you had analysed that he takes MTO because he really needs it. He is injured most of the time, no? But you fed fan are frustrated and completely ignore these facts. Do you even read what fed say abt rafa. if he felt like that abt rafa then he would never go to inagurate the Rafa academy. He respect for rafa is utmost and has said something like rafa bring so much professionlism..

So keep the frustrasion aside and give the credit where its due(like fed).

  36. in my opinion the the quaterfinal for nadal against raonic is tricky which may go either way. but if nadal gets past raonic he will win the tournament irrespective of whom he plays in the semis and finals.

    1. Yes i feel if Nadal gets past Raonic he will do it. I also believe Stan will beat Roger as he is just so strong. However if it were to be a Nadal/Federer final i would back Rafa 100% as he has such a winning record against him.

      1. Federer has a winning record on fast courts than Nadal. However, with that being said, it will be an interesting match if they go to the final, I will be rooting for Federer.

  37. Federer vs dmitrov is the unlikely combination that may be there in the finals. Raonic beating Nadal and dmitrov beating raonic. Federer should beat wawrinka by 4 sets.federer has wonderful all round game. His serve will hold the key. I feel that No.18th slam is there this time, once draw were announced and federer seeded 17th coinciding his lucky 8.

  38. Sally i have just read a post by a British astrologer who writes a column for a national newspaper. He has taken over after his uncle Jonathan Cainer passed away suddenly last year. Quite by chance he mentioned the mars/chiron transit and said he believed that the centaur Chiron was also a healer and when combined with the drive of Mars in transit can indicate triumph over adversity. I would so love this to be the case for Rafa and very apt for him at this stage of his career.

    1. Thanks Lesley. Great timing to find this. It is a positive interpretation of the Mars/Chiron conjunction calling it ‘triumph over adversity’. As Mars also rules sharp objects, I had read another interpretation that Mars/Chiron is ‘a wound reopened’.
Conjunctions can have different interpretations and usually you have to look at the stronger planet to see how it will play out. Mars isn’t strong in Pisces. Mars wants to get from A to B as fast as possible and in watery Pisces it ends up swimming around. Chiron in Pisces is theoretically a better placing as it’s perhaps about redemption. So healing a wound maybe?
This week Venus has also been conjunct Chiron in Pisces (therefore conjunct Rafa’s Jupiter Pisces). That’s a nicer combination because Venus is exalted in Pisces, so it’s about kindness, compassion, etc. Venus/Chiron feels more to do with healing, although sacrificing self for the love of another is also in there.
Not quite sure how that helps his tennis! but thought it might be helpful to explain more about the astrology.

      1. Thanks for that Sally. So interesting and educational to read how you work things out. Rafa/Raonic have stRted so that’s it from me for a few hours ๐Ÿ˜„

  39. I just took a quick look at some transits in effect for Roger and Stan during their semifinal match.

The transiting Sun will be trine Roger’s Midheaven and Saturn. That should be favorable for him putting in the work needed towards a career goal, to make it to another GS final. Not a huge transit, but still helpful.

The transiting Moon trine his Venus could bring nice creativity and crowd support.

Transiting Pluto is still close to the exact trine to his Venus, and this could also bring excellent creativity.

Transiting Mercury will be in range of the opposition to his Mars. I don’t like this transit, since it could bring nervousness and lots of UEs, perhaps rash or even angry behavior from oneself or others.

The excellent progression of Roger’s Mercury conjunct Jupiter remains in close effect. Will this bring success the remainder of the tournament, despite any difficult transits?

Stan has the excellent transit of Jupiter trine his Moon, ruler of his Ascendant. He does have a potentially difficult transit in Pluto square his Mercury-Venus. This could bring an intense testing of his tennis strategy. Perhaps also intense communications?

So, both guys have transits that are challenging and some that are helpful.

It will be interesting to see if Jupiter lighting up Stan’s chart-ruler Moon wins the day, or if Roger’s Mercury-Jupiter progression brings success.

    1. Thank you for the interpretations. Progressions tend to be a backdrop, a theme to the year and not necessarily date specific. But it’s a stunning progression for Roger now as Mercury is his career planet meeting up with lucky Jupiter, planet of opportunity/success. Jupiter was exactly conjunct Roger’s Midheaven (career point) when he won Wimbledon in 2012 so Jupiter’s a strong planet for him. The Mercury/Jupiter progression has got to boost his chances now and moving forward.
When you’re trying to make sense of a lot of conflicting transits/progressions, it helps to focus on what the planets represent and which areas of life they relate to in the birth chart. So for example, Pluto is almost exactly square Stan’s Mercury (communication). Mercury rules his 4th house (home/family), 12th house (hidden fears) and is in his 11th house (friends/groups). That’s going to have an effect on him personally and yes, it may affect his tennis performance. The Jupiter transit to his Moon is about self-belief and Jupiter is his career ruler. Plus this is backed up by the Sun in Aquarius now conjunct his natal Jupiter and moving closer over the next few days.
As you say with Roger, the transits of the Sun and Moon are minor compared to the slower-moving transits but they add a nice testimony to the other astrology.
I still think Stan has the edge astrologically. We’ll soon find out ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Thanks, Sally, for this additional information about the transits we could see in effect for tonight’s match! Here again, you have given us much to ponder!

    2. I meant to add in my previous reply about how to make sense of conflicting transits/progressions that you need the time of birth to find out which area of life a planet rules. You can’t do this without it. For those of you learning about astrology prediction.

  40. Rafa will easily beat Raonic tomorrow no matter how huge he serves, Raonic is not that good in rallies. If Rafa’s forehand is on song tomorrow, I don’t think Raonic has any chance.

Going into last quarter final, it is highly likely that Goffin can beat Dimitrov. Goffin played a fantastic match to knock Thiem out. He has good serve, good groundstrokes.

Coming to semifinals I am sure wawrinka will easily beat Federer no matter what astrology says. Stan has developed his game a lot and has one hell of a backhand. He has beaten Djokovic twice in a grandslam final, that experience will also help him.

Assuming that Rafa will come into final from other side of the draw, if Stan plays with less number of errors in final, he will hold the trophy on Sunday for sure. Rafa does not have strong back hand and Stan has already beaten Rafa here in 2014 final although Rafa was injured that time. But looking at the current form I think this slam is to Stan for taking.

I just hope Rafa hits faster and flatter to pose any threat to his opponent from tomorrow onwards.

    1. Dimitrov is through. I would have bet on Goffin but no time of birth for Grigor. I need to ask Nicole S. ๐Ÿ™‚

  41. Just seen that three of the four women’s semi-finalists are in their mid-30’s. Wow! Maybe the symbolism of Saturn conjunct the Midheaven of the tournament chart is about the older players doing well. Good news for Roger if it is!

          1. Who knows. I knew Nadal would get to the semi but I don’t see him winning the Champion. My feeling is going to be Stan. I would prefer Federer. Good luck to the players.

  42. Federer with Sun trine natal Jupiter/Saturn (0,84/0,22) at Semis tomorrow. Jupiter conjunct natal Pluto 1,02.
Mercury opposite natal Mars 0,34. Pluto/Moon conjunction trine natal Venus (0,07/0,2). Interesting transits!

    1. There’s also Sun trine RF’s Midheaven (0,26) building a Grand Trine together with Sun trine Jupiter/Saturn. Should bring some hope to Roger’s fans his transits tomorrow.

      1. Thanks, Patrick!

We Fed fans will be glad for any astrological boosts coming his way for the rest of the tournament!

  43. Andy Roddick…. a meeting between the two ( Roger and Rafa)in the final could be โ€˜the most historically significant match everโ€™.

Of course they both have to get there first but it would be a rather special match for tennis in general.

        1. Rafa has the most exciting astrology of the four but Roger’s in there and I like Stan’s astrology best! It’s not an easy one to call. I would also love to find a time of birth for Grigor (Dimitrov) as his astrology doesn’t make much sense without it. The Williams sisters are both in the final, which is an incredible achievement – age 35 & 36, so the way it’s going, Roger’s definitely in with a chance being the oldest male competitor! I would love a Rafa-Roger final personally. best, Sally

      1. Based on watching Nadal’s performance improve towards the later end of tournament, head to head against Federer(including mental and technical advantages etc) and of course astrology. Even with good astrology, Rafa doesn’t get defeated by single handed backhand players very often…his game is tailor made to counter Federer.

  44. Matches to go:

    Wawrinka v Federer
    Dimitrov v Nadal

Some people would definitely root for a Nadal v Federer final. ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. If it’s Rafa vs Roger final, Rafa will win in 4 sets but if it’s Rafa vs Stan, it will be a gruelling 5 setter which would go either way….

If Stan won with same astrology last time, why can’t Rafa win this time then ? If Rafa plays final I am sure he will win !!!!

  46. You can’t discount Dimitrov yet. He is playing up to his potential now. It seems now every time Federer and Nadal are set to meet something goes wrong. Also I found this:

Octozone: Grigor Dimitrov will win Slams

You can see Nadal’s aggression, mental toughness and versatility in Dimitrov. In other words, he has the best of both worlds.

Grigor Dimitrov will be a force to reckon with in the future. Though his ground strokes, backhand play and fluidity reminds us of Roger Federer, the Bulgarianโ€™s psychology is, in fact, very similar to that of Rafael Nadalโ€™s.

Like the Spaniard, Dimitrov has his personal planets in Aries, Taurus and Gemini. You can see Nadalโ€™s aggression, mental toughness and versatility in Dimitrov. In other words, he has the best of both worlds.

The former junior World No. 1 has a fantastic horoscope that guarantees successes at the senior level too. He has Jupiter in exaltation, and Saturn and Pluto in their own houses.

Three major planets in positions of strength will make him a highly-decorated and accomplished player. Expect him to win Grand Slams and an Olympic medal too!

The period between 2015 and 2021 will be the golden period of his career. Dimitrov, nicknamed โ€˜Baby Federerโ€™ and โ€˜G-Forceโ€™, will force his way into the top three in the world . He will go from strength to strength.

There is one major flaw in his horoscope though โ€” a very weak Mars. He has had a history of injuries. He also has stamina issues. Mars will induce these issues in the future as well. He will have some extremely disappointing failures due to breakdowns during or before matches. He may also have to skip important tournaments owing to injuries.

But Dimitrov is here to stay!

    http://www.dnaindia.com/analysis/comment-octozone-grigor-dimitrov-will-win-slams-1833471

    1. Thanks for sharing this. He’s talking like he has Dimitrov’s time of birth but I don’t know that he has. I will ask. Without it, the astrology doesn’t make sense for Dimitrov. best, Sally

  47. True. I know. But all his predictions are not correct. Although most are. He also predicted Wawrinka will not win more than 2 slams. Also, predicted Nadal will win at least 15 slams. So, what will you believe? ๐Ÿ™‚

But Dimitrov’s period from 2015-16 has hardly been golden. All I know is a fit and firing Nadal is very hard to beat at Grand Slams.

    1. Agreed! Saturn on the tournament chart Midheaven showing strongly in the women’s tournament – the older players coming through.

  48. At the end of the day Astrology alone isn’t enough. Free will comes into it. The astrology may be vety promising ie Murray, Djokovic but the player still has to go out there and do it. I’m hopi g Rafa can do it but i’m also pleased he’s getting back to his old self. The tennis should great vuewing whichever way it plays out and i’m settled in ready to watch Roger v Stan – may the best man win ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Also Sally, apart from Dimitrov you are spot on about an older player being triumphant this year so congratulations anf i jope that player is Nadal!! I also thought Roger’s MTO was a little suspect. Definitely gamesmanship in my opinion.

          1. what does MTO mean? Am i being dim… a few of you are using it. Yes, I didn’t spot the symbolism of Saturn (Midheaven) being the older player but so far two 35’s & one 36 year old in the finals…

        2. So pleased to see Roger in another final. Amazing achievement by itself after being off the circuit for so long last year!

          1. MTO is medical timeout Sally and i thought older player who has won before so one of the sisters and either Fed or Nadal but Grigor is playing well against Rafa at present and i’m nervous!!

    1. Aquarian, that remains to be seen. Nadal is a great player and he will have his chance with Dimi. Frankly, I find your negativity towards Federer disrespectful since I am a fan. I ask you to be mindful of that.

    1. I am Nadal fan. I will not celebrate till Nadal is the last man standing. And it very early to say as Dino and Fed still can win. So Fed has more chances.

  49. I’m expecting world no.17 expecting to win the 2017 AUS open. Venus and Roger. The stats are amazing. If Nadal reaches final. Roger and Rafa meet for the 9th time in grandslam final. 6-2 to Rafa .. Venus and Serena are meeting for the 9th time too.. 6-2 to Serena. Psychological effect is there for federer against Nadal, even though Federer is having the best game than Nadal.. hopefully this 6 months lay off helps Federer mentally. I don’t want Federer to cry again. I wish Dmitrov upsets Nadal..

    1. Ain’t happening. He couldn’t do it at his peak. I think Jupiter already did its part. He is in GS final after a 6 months lay off.

      1. Yes, sometimes the astrology isn’t about a tournament win but your achievements along the way. Like it was for Dan Evans, Mischa Zverev this tournament. Never count Federer out though. He knows how to win!

  50. Venus/Chiron healing could also mean that Roger may finally beat Rafa and avenge all his losses to him?

    Can it be Sally?

    1. I’m not sure you can take the Chiron symbolism that far. It’s hard to pinpoint whether it is having an effect as he has other key astrology factors this tournament. Chiron is always going to be a secondary factor for me. Others might disagree.

  51. Very interesting, the tournament chart mirrors Dimitrov’s birth chart with Mars conjunct Chiron in Water sign Pishes (23’/23′) conjunct the Ascendant: Dimitrov has Mars conjunct Chiron in Water Cancer (20’/21′) squared by Jupiter at AO, tomorrow 1′. Nadal also enjoys Jupiter square natal Mars these days, 0,01 exact tomorrow. Can this precise square danger him, Sally? Maybe not as Jupiter still slow speeding up one day later from Friday to Saturday.

Positiv to have found a rectified birth time for Dimitrov with 5:30 AM giving him a Capricorn MC and Taurus AC – very common axis for athletes as Serena Williams, Goffin, Guardiola, Ronaldo. Sun precisely trine his Midheaven. North Node Capricorn in his ruling house 10.

The tournament’s chart’s IC would exactly hit his natal Gemini Moon trine Jupiter.
The final’s MC exactly hit his AC might be an encouraging sign for baby-federer to meet his “older brother” at Sunday for his first GS final. Yet, there’s also the Sun conjunct his natal Saturn – Saturn is his MC ruler placed in house 10 and opposed by Jupiter – at tomorrow’s Semi against Nadal 0,85 precise. What do you think, Sally, doesn’t look good for Dimitrov with the Sun in it’s opposite sign Aquarius? Or could it mean reaping what he has seeded? Might tomorrow’s DC hit natal North Node indicate the tournament’s climax for him?

    1. Hola Patrick.

ยฟLos datos de Dimitrov 5:30am ASC 13ยบ TAURO? ยฟSon oficiales y exactos? ยฟDe donde los sacaste?

      Gracias.

      1. Hi Juan, I’m not sure Patrick has replied to this yet. It’s a rectified time of birth, not a confirmed time of birth. Hope that helps. best, Sally

    2. hi Patrick, I don’t find the astrology for Dimitrov that strong. If the time of birth is right, yes, he has the Sun and Moon in his 10th house close to his natal Saturn, ruler of his 10th. Should be good for him. Yet, the New Moon wasn’t enough for Wawrinka to see him through.
Both Federer and Nadal have astrology that ties in to the more powerful Jupiter/Saturn/Uranus theme. Wouldn’t it be great to have four players over 30 in the two finals! best, Sally (p.s. I have been in contact with the president of the Bulgarian Astrology Association to see what they say about the time of birth for Dimitrov.).

      1. Hi Sally, my birth time for Dimitrov is unofficial- I calculated myself from his career highlights. It works also well for future Grand Slams, let’s see if you get further information.

        1. hi Patrick, I’ve just had an email back from the Bulgarian Astrological Association. They don’t have a confirmed birth time for Grigor Dimitrov but they use a rectified time of 11:30am. It gives a chart with loaded angles, i.e. three planets on three angles. I’ll probably keep an eye on both times, yours and theirs for future predictions. best, Sally

          1. Thanks Sally! 11.30 AM rectified time appears to be derived from future French – and US Open charts. Yet there are none conjunctions with career highlights so far. Mars and Jupiter in house 12?? Mercury house 12 might make more sense for a shy Grigor. Roger also no planets in house 6 (both 5.30 AM). So I would exclude 11.30 AM.

5.30 AM works with multiple Grand Slam events in the next 2 years as well as with his career finals to date. 5.30 AM gives him this common Cap MC I observe so often with players and his slower rise with the age of 25 into the first GS final suits well. Moreover I like the Mars Chiron conjunction on his IC – AC Taurus often coincides with themes of (inner) imprisonment. Maybe issues with childhood/parents have caused some irritations last year. Apart from the birth time we can count with Dimitrov as one of the Top 3 in the near future I am certain. He seems to appear in GS finals regularly in regard of tournament chart axis – and planetary conjunctions at GS. Good for tennis! Kind regards, Patrick

  52. I think Fed is really motivated and anything is possible. Also law of average could be in play here. So at some point Fed can get a win against Nadal. Bad things have happened in past with Nadal at Aus open. As Nadal fan I am not arrogant and keeping my fingers crossed.

        1. No doubt about the caliber of the players but nadal has the astrology as well as KIND of game that is difficult to handle by players with single handed backhand. Specifically, he will keep sending high cross court forehand to their backhand all match long until they go mad.

  53. Hi all,

Dimitrov is playing freely and very motivated. While Nadal might seem to have the uranus factor playing on his side for the tournament, dimitrov being true the hour presented by Patrick in regard of his chart, has the best transits for tomorrow!!! Nadal not so much! My gut tells me nadal might fade away. Look for wawrinka his astrology! It seemed outstanding for the final and he is out. Nadal has done just fine getting into semis but he will probably find to much to handle from dimitrov. He is eager for more and he is determined.
Trnasits for dimitrov tomorrow venus trine mars, moon in his 10th house. Iam not sure of this but in his natal chart he has saturn rulling his 10th house. It seems saturn has been playing his cards this tournament…lets see what comes tomorrow. But things do not look so in favour for nadal.
Is just an opinion. I hope nadal wins. Because as a great part of you iam a big fan. But just cant feel it like he is going to make into the final. He has fought very well but we must be prepared for both possiblities!
I just hope the Gods make this final between nadal and fed to happen. That will be immortal !!!

  54. Roger against his little twin brother would be an excellent final. A historical match symbolising one generation handing it into the other. 2017 time is ready for the definite breakthrough of Grigor.
More than before he is showing how much Roger is in him. Read the first five capitals of his name, written in Western European style, from the end: G-REGOR ๐Ÿ™‚ It would probably be the most artistic and most elegant tennis Grand Slam final in history. Two Genius in action mirroring each other. So let’s see how tomorrow turns out.

  55. This tournament has brought amazement during many cold nights in Toronto, including Venus’ win over CoCo. Her initial surprise turned joy leading to a jubilant dance brought me great happiness. It may have been a semi-final win but it was lovely to see her so happy. Who knows, maybe she will it all–I hope for it. I hope the same for Federer. Two great champions among champions.

  56. It just doesn’t look ok! I think he does not believe he can make it to finals! His play isso different today! We shall see soon.

  57. Match ups can be tricky and there are emotional aspects that come into play as well. I expect Nadal to come through seeing as he has taken the third set tie break but one never knows. Even with good astrology we have seen players fall to lesser competitors.

    1. I was making the same point earlier. I am not devaluing Dimitriv or Federer. It’s just that Rafa’s game cannot be hurt by them. Only wawrinka’s single handed backhand can inflict damage on Nadal’s game but ironically, he is bad match up for Federer.

      1. I really don’t think you know your tennis. I am a massive Nadal fan but he can be hurt by a single handed backhand. One stroke does not make a match. He’s hitting the ball too short today and his major weapon ie his forehand isn’t working very well. I’m very nervous for him at the moment. They’ve just started 5th set. Vamos Rafa!

      2. The guys are playing fifth set if you haven’t noticed my friend. So your argument is nonsense as Dimitrov already beat him in two sets occasions. You will return that he can’t win the match though, what is not supporting your argument. Dimitrov already has proven his game enough to beat Nadal. We have noticed you want Nadal to win. Others are Dimitrov fans. Maybe it’s time for you to acknowledge and built some respect.

        1. Who is your comment aimed at.? I can’t actually follow what you mean.i want Nadal to win but i have respect for his opponents’ play. I have never dismissed any of them.

  58. Rafa wins an epic battle. Dimitrov played a fantastic match and for the record it was his ONE HANDED BACKHAND that was doing all the damage. I’m so happy Rafa is through to the final but Dimi has my upmost respect. I love tennis.

  59. Sighing๏ผ๏ผWill it repeat 19 AO?If it happens, that will be a sad story for Roger,my King of tennis.Roger went to final 3 times in 2014-2015,and he lose 3 times.I can’t image the final day after tomorrow. If he lose again,my heart will be broken.๐Ÿ˜”

    1. Have faith. He made it to the final and that is a feat in itself after an injury plagued 2016. Ultimately, I hope Federer wins. If it meant to be, it will happen. Good luck to both men.

      1. Let see what gods has written in stars.. but best of luck to both and all the fans..I will give slight edge to Fed as Nadal must be knackered by now (he shd have finished match earlier) and he also has 1 less day to recover. But lets see .. I am happy to see Nadal is competetive again..Fed was always competetive…

    1. You are being conscending now–can you wait until the last man standing? As a Federer fan, I hope he wins. If Nadal wins, good for him and the fans. That my friend is called being gracious. Take a cue.

      1. I apologize if I caused you to be upset..but I did not use any demeaning or insulting language. I am just expressing an opinion.

    1. They will both want to win this one so much. I have to say I think Rafa’s astrology is the better of the two. Surprise planet Uranus was almost exactly trine his natal Uranus in the tournament chart. Rafa’s Uranus 20 Sagittarius 42 so it’s getting the lovely Jupiter/Saturn/Uranus connection. Plus his Uranus is conjunct the tournament chart Midheaven, which has been a winning factor in the past. He also had Mars conjunct his Jupiter in the tournament chart so strong, energetic astrology for him.
Roger does have the Jupiter-Saturn sextile on his Pluto-Neptune sextile so he’s picking up the zeitgeist and the Moon in the tournament chart was at 11 Virgo, his Ascendant degree.
Based on transits alone, I’d go Rafa. If you’re going to include progressions, then Roger has an amazing progression this year: Mercury progressed conjunct Jupiter progressed. Mercury is his career planet and it’s within 2′ (minutes) of arc on the day of the final. That’s incredibly lovely. Transits tend to be more date-specific than progressions which act as a backdrop to the year.
I’m hoping for a really close final and I’m sure it will be heartbreak for the loser. They will both want this one so badly.

  60. Hi Sally, who has the best chance on Sunday? Rafa or Roger? On papers, Rafa is the favourite. Will Roger get lucky. He has the best ever game in tennis, but psychological effect is there against Nadal after losing 2008 Wimbledon finals and 2009 Australian open finals.

    1. I’ve just written a comment about the astrology, Jay. It’s a close call but I think the astrology favours Rafa. Ideally I would like the final to be played twice so they can both win once – do you think that could happen?!! It’s going to be agony for the loser as they were both out injured last year. Either one winning will be an amazing comeback.

  61. Today was edge of the seat stuff. I never enjoy it with Rafa until he’s won and don’t know if i can stand to go through it again on Sunday, especially if it’s a close 5 setter!

  62. Shall I tell you something Ms Sally Kirkman ?

I have been actively following this column the last three years plus. This time I find that you have not done justice to your column which is highly popular among genuine tennis fans. It appears to me that you have made your predictions a bit casually. Please do not mistake me for my candid remark. It is possible that you were heavily pre-occupied. And you could not prioritize Australian Open 2017. I will go to the extent of saying that you have done your predictions for statistical purpose.

I would request you to do desist from making predictions for catering to statistics. For the sake of convenience please do not predict the in-form player as the winner. This will result in loss of faith in ASTROLOGY.

I find that the comments have lost their quality. Comments have personal undertones. The credibility of astrology is getting tested.

I have given my views. As an active follower and an ambassador of this column I thought I should bring it to your attention.

please do not have any adverse inferences.

    best regards,

    1. Hi Federer fan. No, I didn’t have much time for this prediction but I wanted to get the article up because there was demand for it. So yes, it was written quickly. Was I happy with my prediction for Andy Murray? Yes, absolutely. His astrology was by far the most exciting. Would I have predicted him to win if I’d had more time? Yes I would.
I didn’t get this prediction right but that’s no longer the main point of these articles. They are a forum for those of use who love both tennis and astrology – it’s up to me to start the ball rolling & I’m the one who puts in the initial work on the chart/the players.
There’s always more than one player with significant astrology and that’s noted in the article. It’s unusual for one player to stand out as an absolute cert to win, although that has happened in the past and I hope it does in the future. I still like to make a prediction.
I’m happy for people to leave more personal comments on here because the article is about tennis as well as astrology. If it’s veered away from the astrology, that isn’t just to do with me but everyone commenting. Again I’ve been busy this tournament so haven’t been able to comment as much as usual. But it’s a forum and that’s fantastic.
Plus, the astrology has been amazing this tournament. Dan Evans, Mischa Zverev to name two players who came through. Saturn conjunct the Midheaven, the ‘old’ planet and we have four people over 30 in the mens’ & women’s final. That astrology has unfolded along the way. I’ve loved the astrology conversations this tournament and I love people commenting who share with me their interpretation of the astrology too. I’m sorry if you haven’t enjoyed it as much this time around. Maybe next time you will? best, Sally

      1. Sally, I would like to thank you for taking some time for us and providing the platform for discussion. It’s fun since 2012.

          1. Sally,

I appreciate your time and work in doing this–I have learned a lot. It has also been fun, even disagreeing with Aquarian. Your effort has been noticed by me and I am sure by many others, considering the comments.

    2. Hey buddy just chill .. Internet is the platform where all these things are just fine. Most of these thing need to taken with pinch of salt. And you are spoiling it for everyone.

    3. Also astrology isn’t set in stone. The heavens only nudge they don’t force. Someone like Zverev or Dan Evans had good astrology and they had great tournaments for them personally. I think Nadal with his astrology will win but we shall see. Regardless, he will have had a great tournanent given his circumstances and so will Roger, so the stars are right. As for the tournament’s chart, it is spot on. An older established player who has triumphed before will win.

    4. Thank you very much ‘Federer Fan’ aka ‘Mr. President for Astrology’ for your caring. Good to have you ๐Ÿ˜‰ Maybe you better address to the originators if you dislike certain comments.

  63. I think we should be understanding of pain of Federer fans..its just projection of their agony. Sally, thank you very much for time and effort you put in for this blog.

    1. Please don’t bad for for Federer fans. We don’t need your sympathy and I wonder do you feel the same for Rafa fans when Novak beats Rafa in the grand slams finals that they played in.

  64. How come everyone is saying Nadal is favourite. Doesn’t Nadal have less time to recover? Isn’t that the big parameter? Unless offcourse planet Chiron helps Nadal to recover faster.

    1. I’ve just posted my comment about the astrology for the two finalists. I’m leaving Chiron out of it. Rafa has come through unscathed (hope that continues!) so focusing on the more traditional astrology now. Rafa’s astrology is the most compelling of the two.

  65. I’m not assuming Nadal will win but think he has the better astrology and personally want him to win but i will be a nervous wreck come Sunday. Federer could win and it would still be a great tournament for Rafa.

      1. Yes. They both have strong astrology for the tournament as mentioned in the article at the start but I think Rafa’s sneaks it. Roger has the extra day’s rest and Rafa had an epic battle today so time’s on Roger’s side. They’re both experienced players though and know how to win. It seems sad that only one can take the title!

    1. Not a chance! Nadal will struggle to get past 1st /2nd round at Wimbledon and US Open. Even French Open looks doubtful..

  66. What a promising final. Roger is my favorite due to his outstanding performance connected with a huge mental strength these days. His progressed Jupiter Mercury conjunction is 0,1 degree exact and the Moon transiting through his 6th house. I don’t see major transits in the final for Nadal. Venus went away from his natal Jupiter and his progressed Moon is over 1 degree apart natal Sun.

In fact, I wonder if Rafa’s run is over due to the Jupiter Mars transit of the recent two weeks. He started with slowmoving Jupiter running towards a square with natal Mars 0,3 at tournament start. That peaked in an exact conjunction today against Dimitrov. So the square in the following days is in it’s decreasing phase. As Jupiter makes a jump from Friday to Saturday, resting again till turning in February, it’s 0,5 degrees away from natal Mars. He cannot expect further boost from that transit I guess. Nadal has these fantastic Uranus transit and MC conjunction (same as Stan 2014), but I am not sure that’s a guarantee for the Championship. Would be interested about your opinion, Sally? Thanks in advance! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Yes, good astrology, Patrick. Rafa’s astrology was hot in the tournament chart but it depends how wide an orb you allow with the separating aspects whether they are still going to propel him to victory. Roger’s Mercury/Jupiter progression is amazing as it’s almost exact. I do think it will be close and I would love to see an epic final. Kudos to both of them for getting to the final after last year’s injuries.

  67. Curious if Jay’s prediction is about to come true: ATP + WTA 17 to win AO 2017. Venus with Jupter trine natal Venus and Serena Jupiter conjunct natal Pluto and Pluto conjunct natal MC.

  68. Well, here we go, another Roger-Rafa GS final. Rafa has always been a terrible match-up for Roger, and they say that tennis results are often about match-ups. It is interesting that, when you compare their birthcharts, you see that Rafa’s Saturn is closely opposite Roger’s Midheaven career point. Could this show a rival who brings Saturnian difficulties and limits to one’s career?

Roger has the nice progression of Mercury conjunct Jupiter in the background. Perhaps we have seen this in the faster courts at this year’s AO that may be better for his playing style, and also in his unexpected success getting this far in the tournament, after a 6-month layoff due to injury. Another progression currently strong for him is progressed Mercury square natal Mars. This could bring challenges in strategy or execution, perhaps the need to make some changes for the future.

For Rafa’s progressions, I’m using the 6:20 p.m. time of birth, which may not be correct. Anyway, his progressed Mars would be closely trine his progressed Midheaven if it’s correct. That’s an excellent factor for success in a sports career. His progressed Midheaven is nearing the exact square to his progressed Uranus, and his progressed Ascendant is nearing his progressed Saturn. Both of these factors could bring challenges, but they don’t hit exactness until spring. Here again, if the time of birth I’m using is correct.

I think Rafa’s transits are much better than Roger’s for this AO final. I don’t like Neptune within close range of the opposition to Roger’s Ascendant. This could bring a tricky opponent and/or physical problems. Roger said he has had a leg issue all week;. And I don’t like the nearly precisely exact square of Chiron to Roger’s Neptune. Chiron transits can bring up old “wounds,” and Neptune can represent one’s dreams. Though this isn’t a transit to a personal planet or an angle, sometimes transits that are nearly exact can be seen in expression, it seems to me, even if they would ordinarily be considered minor.

Rafa has transiting Jupiter strongly square his Mars. Though a square, this can express in a basically positive way in bringing energy to one’s sports performance. It could emphasize his exuberant, all-out style of play. I suppose the only caveat is to avoid somehow overdoing, but I would be surprised if this transit expresses negatively. The transiting Sun will be square his Ascendant I think this will provide additional energy for him to fight towards victory.

So is there any hope for those of us who would love to see Roger win? Perhaps the positive Jupiter progression in the background for Roger will be enough to make the difference and bring success. And perhaps the difficult transits can be overcome. And there are some nice minor transits in range of effect that could help. Mercury trine his Venus and Venus trine his Uranus could bring innovation and creativity. A larger transit, Pluto trine his Venus, could also express nicely. We may see at least some of the flashes of brilliance we saw in his recent matches.

Sally, this is just my attempt at analysis. Please correct my errors or misperceptions! Do you see factors that could be helpful for Roger? It does seem that most factors are pointing towards Rafa for the victory.

    1. Good astrology, Astrotennis. Progressions have played out in some of the wins of recent year. I think Andy Murray whose only strong astrology was a progressed planet conjunct the Midheaven won with this combination – can’t remember now exactly but they do show. I usually expect transits to be more ‘of the moment’. But yes, love Roger’s Mercury/Jupiter progression now exact! especially as Mercury is his career planet. Transit-wise Rafa has the edge and I think the Jupiter transit square his Mars is still active and will help. The Neptune/Chiron combination may not help Roger. I expect Rafa to win but Roger is a legend and can perform miracles on the court! To be fair, they are both awesome. Roger has one more day’s rest and Rafa’s semi-final was epic – over 5 hours. May be a factor if it goes to a 5 setter. Bring it on ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Thanks, Sally!

I do hope Roger’s Mercury/Jupiter progression will rule the day, as Andy’s did in the match you refer to! But Rafa’s transits are better.

Well, we can all hope for a good match and will look forward to some fascinating astrological analysis as we see how things play out!

        1. Wasn’t it close! I had such mixed emotions – elated for Roger, gutted for Rafa. So close in so many ways and like Roger said afterwards, it would have been so nice if they could have shared a draw!

  69. DEAR ALL,

I HAVE A FEELING THAT VENUS WILLIAMS AND ROGER FEDERER WILL WIN AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2017.

    KIND REGARDS,
    ROBINSON

  70. In 2009 Rafa had a gruelling 5setter with FV but he recovered then in a day to beat Roger in 5.
This tym again we hope him to recover.
Which planet can help him recover?

    1. Mars. Rafa has a strong Mars exalted in Capricorn – the gladiator – and Mars is his ruling planet as he has a Scorpio Ascendant. Mars has just moved into Aries, its sign of rulership. That’s Mars on fire! I think it will help Rafa.

  71. In 2009 Rafa had a gruelling 5setter with FV but he recovered then in a day to beat Roger in 5.
This tym again we hope him to recover.
Which planet can help him recover?

  72. I don’t see Nadal’ astrology stronger than Roger’s. Unless the Uranus transits mean he will be the Champion – no blank cheque yet, I guess. Jupiter moving away from a square to his natal Mars could take him the extra drive from last rounds. Nothing else big going on with transits for Rafa. Transiting Sun will not square Nadal’s Ascendant. Neptune on Federer’s DC is no harm and already was exact last days, doesn’t bother his career as Sally agrees.

Venus trine Roger’s Uranus is hopeful! Also I like his MC ruler conjunct Pluto trine his natal Venus. These transits strengthen my belief that Federer will win. Saturn conjunct MC speaks for him, too, hopefully levelling out his opponent’s Uranus transits. Maybe this AO and MC on Saturn is also about setting new records: Serena overtaking Graf with Number 23 and Federer extending with Number 18.

Yesterday’s epic match should be encouraging for Roger: Grigor – with his wonderful backhand same as Roger – just failed mentally with two little match points (15-40) in the end. This will strengthen Roger’s belief that Rafa is absolutely beatable for him tomorrow as Roger is far more experienced than Dimi. What people see difficult for Fed is just the case on clay – Rod Laver 2017 is fast enough to triumph. The Jupiter Mercury Progression can make the difference.

    1. I disagree Patrick on a few points, the main one being Dimitrov’s mental weakness at certain points. Nadal, as is his fashion, refused to be beaten and stepped up to the plate when it mattered and WON that match. It wasn’t gifted to him by any failings on Dimitrov’s part. Federer has lost in all the big finals to Rafa – the exception being 2 Wimbledon finals before Rafa beat him in a 5 setter the following year on the grass. To say Nadal has only beaten him on clay is blatantly untrue.

We all have our favourites. I make no bones about Nadal being mine. However, i am first and foremost a tennis fan. I like and admire Federer and also like and enjoy many other players. If Nadal wasn’t playing i would still be watching and enjoying the tennis. The only player i don’t realky like to watch is Raonic because i find him boring.

As for the astrology, we shall see. I think Rafa will win tomorrow but if i’m wrong i’ll still be pleased because he’s getting back to the top again and he deserves it.

      1. Lesley you are right, Nadal played extraordinarily at Break Points for Dimitrov. I may be wrong, if I remember right, Dimitrov could have been more offensiv in one or two situations what certainly would have been a natural reaction. If so, that’s what experience helps and who has more of that especially against Nadal.. We will see tomorrow. Have fun!

      2. …what I meant to say with clay was concerned to some people’s argument Roger can’t handle Nadal with his one hand backhand. This plays out only on clay, I think. So my statement was not that Federer would win every time on different courts.

        1. Thank you Patrick. If the single handed backhand is good enough it will hurt Rafa. Tomorrow will be epic and although I’ll be nervous I shall enjoy it. May the best man win.

    2. Dear Patrick, when it’s a Rafa Roger final and that too in a grand slam, astrology does not matter, and you predicted Stan to win the title but he is not even in final, it’s Rafa all the way !!! Federer also knows that he does not have a chance, no matter the level at which he is playing, against Rafa it simply does not work, looking at their previous match ups, although I too like his style of play…

    3. Thanks, Patrick. May it be so, may Roger’s progression of Mercury conjunct Jupiter carry him to victory! Perhaps the transiting square of Jupiter to Rafa’s Mars could bring him an opponent who is currently strong with Jupiterian success?

All respect to Rafa’s fans as well as Roger’s. Tomorrow, some of us fans of astrology will be happier than others, but we can all respect each other and hope for a good match! It has been very interesting to read differing opinions of the astrological factors we may see in effect. Now it’s time to see how the astrology and the tennis play out! No way to know for sure until we see the results!

  73. Great alternative argument on Roger’s chart.
Yes Dimitrov exposed quite a few areas in Rafa’s game which Roger could exploit plus Saturn Jupiter Neptune can help. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  74. Sun opposite Saturn in Carlos Moya chart tomorrow: indicating his new player’s upset or personal differences, as with his team for example? Carlos Moya also with North Node conjunct natal Sun and Sun trine Pluto. Toni Nadal with Mars square Mars – Berdych lost 0-6, 0-6 with that aspect last season to Goffin. What do you think, Sally?

    1. patrick you are clutching at straws by bringing moyas chart toni nadals chart etc to somehow make federer win. but i am afraid you are going to be disappointed as nadal will definitely beat roger tommorow.

      1. please change that to ‘probably’ James. Let’s not tempt fate.

ps I do agree that Patrick is going a touch too far by looking into Nadal’s camp’s charts. Astrology alone won’t do it and these guys all have other stuff going off in their lives!!

      2. Guys, looking at the astrology of the staff is a common matter and I am aware that issues can have multiple meaning as I do write. Please accept that I have a different view with tomorrow’s outcome than felt 90 per cent of this blog already booked a flight for Rafa. He may win, he may lose. Everybody is free to share his thoughts, especially when it matters astrologically and the team’s astrology is an important factor and was multiple times discussed in this Grand Slam blog of Sally in the past. As I didn’t observe anything outstanding for Roger’s team I posted Rafa’s to discuss. Thanks for your understanding.

        1. Patrick, I just wanted to say Congratulations on your prediction for Federer. You were spot on. Amazing match. Loved it! best, Sally

          1. Thank you Sally, that’s very kind! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Maybe it was Pluto conjunct my MC 0,00 today ๐Ÿ˜‰

  75. I am going to support for Roger. His service will be the key tomorrow. Ljubicic techniques will now come much handy,. I feel similar to what Sampras in 2002 experienced against his famous rival agassi. Roger will showcase his best skills to clinch this elusive 18th GrandSlam. This is very much possible.hope for the best tennis. 4 setter probably.

  77. Hi All,

Whatever the outcome tomorrow i just want to thanks Sally! Congratulations for your predictions. Astrology is a science but is always difficult to be sure of how it plays in real life.
I am very pleased about your comments and mostly because iam curious person regarding astrology too. Second because you dont make it a pure discussion to check who from the astrologers are correct… You make it gentle and in a way that even a person only interested in knowing if nadal, stan, roger, djokovick, cilic or other players win get also interested in how it plays the astrology but without being difficult to understand.

For tomorrows match one is going to lose but both will win. One month ago if someone told one of them i offer you runner up trophy both would take it.

That being said, i like both them much with a slight predillection to nadal. You dont explain it you feel it. I know astrology is tricky but tomorrow we should celebrate any outcome and just watch.

Independently of the astrology i think will be more tough for nadal than for roger. Every chapter is new, no matter the match ups, because at this stage in their careers they dont play exactly the same way, and rafa is not the animal he once was. I do hope he can make it, but his fatigue at 30 is not as easy to recover as it was in a 2009 or even 2012, 2013. I believe he is feeling it to keep there and the fact that he has one day less to recover it makes a difference.

So instead of suffering because he might loose i prefer to think he reached the final there again. Is great for both. Roger is extremely fresh. The amount of hours played is no doubt less than nadal, so we will see.

    Kind regards to all,

Thanks to the astrologers Sally , Patrick and Maxi.

P.s: Maxi if you could ad your opinion for tomorrow final i would enjoy to read it too.

    Sam

    1. Sam, thank you. It’s really appreciated to read such kind words. The final was always going to be close with the astrology – Rafa’s transits better than Roger, Roger’s amazing Mercury/Jupiter progression. I’m just about to update the article with the astrology that showed clearly this tournament. I love that Roger said after the win he would have been happy to lose (i.e. to get to the final was amazing) and that he wished tennis could end in a draw, because both he and Rafa had achieved a remarkable feat after their injuries last year. best, Sally

  78. More astrological support for Federer:

    Dear Pitsch
What finals this year in the Australian Open! Williams vs Williams and Federer vs Nadal, amazing.
I am pleased for Nadal that he has recovered his form โ€“ it has been a while since I have been called upon to look at his chart.
He wonโ€™t be quite as fresh as Roger, having had a 5 set match yesterday.
In their synastry (chemistry) they have quite a lot of connection, and some of it benefits Nadal and some of it benefits Roger, so they are equally matched in a way.
For tomorrowโ€™s final, Jupiter squares Nadalโ€™s Mars, so he will be energetic and a keen player. His Uranus trines his Uranus, so he has the power of surprise with him, but it is already a surprise that he is in the final.
As already written for Roger: Jupiter still sextile his Neptune, spiritually buoyant; Uranus opposite his Neptune, some challenge and disturbance; Neptune opposite his Ascendant, confusion and physical weakness, relationship complexity; Pluto still trine Venus. Still good, but not quite as good as at the beginning.
I think Roger has enough going for him to win, but it should be a good match, full of surprises.
    Love
    Lana

    (Lana Wooster)

  79. Good morning Mrs Kirkman
I do not know anything about astrology except that I often look at my horoscope and I believe in astrology. I just would like to know if you check the date and the hour of the final on the 29th UK time or on Melbourne time, considering that ‘s 2 different hemispheres, and I hope Federer has a chance to win
    Thank you
    Lydia

      1. and thanks a lot to have added these remarks at the end on the best players comments.
I really have enjoyed your predictions : please continue to do so for the coming grand slams.

Please excuse me for my English that is not my mothertongue.

        Best regards

  80. 1 set all!!!

Just checked that greenstone lobo backs federer to win!

That feds is playng great there is no doubt…

    We shall see soon

  81. 1 set all!!!

Just checked that greenstone lobo backs federer to win!

That feds is playng great there is no doubt…

    We shall see soon

    1. I’m disappointed Rafa lost today but have to give credit to Federer who played fantastic tennis and dexerved to win today. Roll on the clay season.

    2. Lesley, not a clue! Greenstone Lobo is always talking about them as do quite a few of the Indian astrologers. Makes no sense to me so I can’t help. Sorry.

  82. I had a very strong conviction that he is going to do it. Ljubicic coaching tactics helped to fine-tune the serving skills of Roger Federer

  83. This is what Greenstone Lobo predicted :

Itโ€™s the final every tennis fan was waiting for over the last couple of days, and now the question on everyoneโ€™s mind is: who will win this unforeseen dream title clash of the Australian Open?

Roger Federer probably has the best horoscope amongst tennis players of all time, not just of his generation. Also, he won the first of his 17 Grand Slam titles in 2003 (Wimbledon) during a rare celestial phenomenon when seven planets were in strong positions.

This indicates that the former World No. 1 would be way ahead of all others in the final count of the number of Grand Slam titles a tennis player has ever won after he hangs up his boots.

While the Swiss maestro is currently on 17 majors, Rafael Nadal โ€” popularly known as the โ€˜King of Clayโ€™ โ€” is breathing down his neck with an impressive haul of 14.

Federer was going through a tough period in his professional career since 2013, owing to the transiting Saturn into an inimical position. He last won a Grand Slam at his favoured Wimbledon in 2012, and has since yearned for another major title. He had a torrid 2016 season, missing out on six months of action owing to injuries, prompting many experts to predict that it was the end of Fedex.

However, that is not to be.

Planet-X has transited into Federerโ€™s tenth house of career, signalling a phenomenal turnaround in the fortunes of arguably the greatest tennis player to have ever played the game.

Unfortunately for Rafa, Planet-X has transited into his eighth house of obstacles. Thus, for the Spaniard, it could be a case of so near, yet so far, which will surely be a huge disappointment for him.

So, tennis fans, expect Federer to extend his domination with a jaw-dropping 18th Grand Slam crown.

    1. Thanks for posting Federer fan. I still don’t understand Planet X and Y but his prediction was right! best, Sally

  84. What a match! What a player, the greatest of all time, Federer wins his 18th title. Sweet revenge. Now who’s laughing Nadal fans.

  85. Since when has the 8th house been the house of obstacles? I don’t agree with his astrology and he did say Pliskova would win the women’s event.

  86. I’ve updated the article to include the astrology that unfolded during the tournament. All that leaves me to say is thank you so much for your fun and interesting comments during this amazing two weeks. Who would have thought it at the beginning – the Williams sisters & a Rafa-Roger final. Incredible! See you all again at the French Open. Stay safe, be happy. best wishes, Sally

    1. Thank you for the prediction and only after reading your prediction I started watching the matches on TV. I am now confused whether I am looking forward to Grandslams or Our Sally’s prediction and the Space she provides for discussion and knowledge sharing on Sports Astrology and Tennis. Thank you dear Sally and See you in French Open time. (i will be following your FB and portal anyway) – Warm Regards, Sathia (Founding Member – Sally’s Fans Club)

  87. Thanks Sally for letting us debate in your column. In the end,we all watched the greatest tennis match to be ever played. I follow your predictions closely for the last couple of years. See you at Roland Harris and have a great time.

  88. Sally, did the number 17 help Federer in any way? He was seeded 17, ranked 17 in the beginning year of 2017, and he had 17 slams in his possession. Did the number become a factor?

In addition, thank for this forum. Kudos to you!

  89. What a great tournament and a fantastic final! Starting rather average, Roger and Rafa heightened each other to a phenomenal level rarely seen in a Grand Slam final. What a power tennis from Roger in age of 35,5!! Both players with huge mental strength, especially Roger astonished in comparison to a mental block he suffered in big matches in recent years.

ATP 17 Roger Federer + WTA 17 Venus Williams reaching the final and Roger Federer coming to Australian Open 2017 with 17 GS titles extending his collection, Serena breaking the record. Both finals had a 6-2 head-to-head each before, the Women final together extending it to 17 ๐Ÿ™‚

The breakthrough astrology from the turn of the year playing out in an exciting way, I am positive we are heading towards an ongoing interesting season with new faces rising as Dimitrov or the Zverevs.

Thank you very much, Sally, for continuing your tennis blog and your engagement throughout the two weeks. We can only repeat ourselves, your offered work and kindness make each Slam extra fine!! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

See you all in a few month time!

    Kind regards,
    Patrick

    1. Felicitaciones Patrick por tu acierto con Federer!!

Mercurio-Jupiter progresiones secundarias conjuncion partil en Enero 2017.

      El Maestro!!

      Saludos

  90. hello sally the moon of the tournament chart start was bang on federers asct and the asct of the tournament chart start was in an exact trine to federers moon. the asct of the tournament chart start was also trine to nadals asct(7.10 pm birth time)but 1 degree difference. this most probably explains why fed and rafa reached the final and fed won.

    1. They are certainly testimonies to the prediction. I love that the Moon was at the exact degree of Roger’s Ascendant.

  91. Had a small celebration treat given by me in the Office ! It was a great show FEDAL Show !! When Rod Laver joined them presenting the trophies, I felt very happy as they are the greatest threesome !!! – Regards, Sathia

  92. Sally, those have been your words about Venus at the Wimbledon 2016 blog. Venus seems healthy as for years ago, she doesn’t have tanymore this groggy body language from recent years suffering from her illness:

“She has a Mars/Saturn conjunction in Virgo in the 12th house. Mars rules energy/athleticism but Saturn acts as a block, dampens down what it touches. Virgo is the sign which rules the body and health, plus the 12th house is often invisible, whatโ€™s hidden. Bless her โ€“ Saturn is based on a 7 year cycle so I hope that by next year, 2017, she might start to be free of the disease. Auto-immune diseases require a lot of care and attention. Amazing really that sheโ€™s still playing at a top level.โ€

    Good prediction ๐Ÿ˜€

  93. What fascinating fun we had with the astrology of the 2017 Australian Open!

The tournament chart emphasizing older, experienced players. Spot on, Sally! And Roger’s exact progression, and your observation that it was an exact progression that had corresponded with a GS win for Andy in the past! And the tournament chart Moon conjunct Roger’s Ascendant!

Patrick, you were spot on in your emphasis on Roger’s Mercury-Jupiter progression, and your assurance that the transits that concerned me would not be significant. Well done!

However, I do think we saw the transits expressed. The Neptune transit opposite Roger’s Ascendant may have expressed in his carrying an injury. He mentioned a groin issue during the tournament. And the Chiron transit square his Neptune may have expressed simply in Rafa being his opponent in the final. I’ve read that Chiron transits can bring up painful situations from the past, and Roger has lost big GS finals to Rafa. Sometimes issues can be resolved during the Chiron transit, and it seems that Roger came up with a better plan to deal with Rafa’s game. At any rate, it seems the Mercury-Jupiter progression, which also could have expressed in good strategy, overcame all!

Thank you, Sally, for bringing us this excellent blog. I can’t say it any better than Patrick, “your offered work and kindness make each slam extra fine.” I’ll just repeat what I’ve said before, you are a treasure!

  94. Sally, in regard of this historical tournament and the epic performance from Federer, it comes to my mind that this would be a nice moment to share some more details about “the King”.

You have once published an article to his Wimbledon 2012 triumph already mentioning sone astrological details – “The Return of the King” which I loved as much as your analysis about “Superstar Serena”. I would live to learn more about his chart, too. One of the astrologers above mentioned said his rise over a decade ago came to a special time indicating a legend born.

Just an idea for the time till the next slam ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thanks again for AO 2017!

    Best,
    Patrick

  95. Sally and Patrick – What are your thoughts on the following prediction by Greenstone Lobo, back in Aug 2013.

Octozone: 20 Grand Slams a possibility for Roger Federer by Greenstone Lobo

    http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/column-octozone-20-grand-slams-a-possibility-for-roger-federer-1869633

Do you guys see this in his horoscope?

“FedEx can make a grand comeback in second half of 2014 and follow through with a brilliant 2015-16. He can actually create magic at 34-36 and probably become one of the oldest male players to win singles grand slams ever. 20 Grand Slams? Possible, very possible. The man has it in him to re-write all the possibilities of the game.”

    1. I’ve seen this prediction before. He uses different astrology, Planet X and Y. I don’t know what they represent. I don’t think the prediction is coming true because the last Grand Slam he won was Wimbledon 2012 before this year’s Australian Open 2017, although he is on 18 Grand Slam wins now. Federer is on a roll at the moment though and I will look at his astrology more closely before the French Open. best, Sally

  96. In 2014, Roger Federer reached 1 final (Wimbledon) and 2 semis (Australian and US) of the 4 grandslam tournaments.. In 2015, he reached 2 Finals (Wimbledon and US Open). In 2016, he reached 2 Semi Finals(Australian and Wimbledon and Absent in in French and US Open). It has been a good ride since the beginning of 2014 even though he did not win too many tournaments. What are your predictions for 2017 – Grand slam winners – French, Wimbledon and US Open.

  98. I just have to say that the above predictions seem to be spot on…..Djokovic and Murray are struggling and Roger is surging ahead playing some sublime tennis in Indian Wells.

hi Deidre, sorry for late reply. The astrology: Mercury, the ‘tennis’ planet rules Roger’s career and the progression of lucky Jupiter conjunct Mercury (by progression) was exact when he won the Aus Open earlier this year. It’s still very active in his chart, although Mercury is now separating, i.e. moving away. However, he does have a transit going on that mirrors the progression. Jupiter turns direct at 13 Libra sextile Roger’s natal Mercury on June 9th and will be active throughout the French Open tournament. So once again, he has some lovely astrology taking place. The man: we now know he is not just human but super-human. He has to decide what’s best for him, however, as he knows his best shot of another Grand Slam is Wimbledon, his favourite arena, and the clay courts at the French Open are a tougher surface. I hope he plays the French Open as the astrology is favourable for him to do well. best, Sally

        1. your strange feeling of federer winning all 4 majors is allready proven wrong as fed has pulled out of french open.

    1. Sally Kirkman

Sorry to everyone who’s been in touch. I haven’t written anything yet about the French Open. In fact, I wasn’t going to partly because I was a bit ho-hum about it all and thought I might wait until Wimbledon for inspiration to strike. All I’d heard so far was that Roger’s not playing and Andy’s got a stomach bug! Also I’d not heard from any of you until yesterday and today, so I thought popularity was waning! I will take a look at the chart tomorrow and if the astrology looks interesting, I’ll hopefully get to post something even if it’s super brief. Happy tennis ๐Ÿ™‚

Now I am feeling really bad about not writing a prediction for the French Open as the founding member of my fan club has been in touch! Sathia, I have no possibility of writing this today but I promise to at least take a look at the astrology tomorrow, Tuesday, and take it from there. My heart wasn’t in this one… Sending best wishes, Sally

  99. Hi Sally!

    1. Sathia, hello. It feels like a completely new ball game with so many of the top players undergoing injuries. Therefore, it makes it much harder to predict. In the early days, I was choosing between the Big Four and only glancing at other players’ chances. This time around, it’s whether anyone has strong enough astrology (and willpower and talent) to knock the remaining champions off top spot. It looks as if Federer and Nadal are the ones in with a shout again – Murray is out, Djokovic & Wawrinka are dubious. So the predictions may have to be slightly different as I don’t want to spend hours looking at every player’s birth data. I’ll mull it over and see what I think works best.
