The Sky Gods, Jupiter and Uranus, face off right now in the second of three major planetary oppositions. Jupiter is the big planet, representing opportunity and expansion; Uranus is the planet with the erratic orbit, linked to impulsiveness and unexpected events.
This is a freedom-loving, fly high, breakthrough combination and if you’re in the right place at the right time, this is ideal for taking a big risk, a leap of faith. This isn’t for the faint-hearted however and it’s important to recognise that there’s little to anchor you safely.
The kite’s soaring high into the sky, you’re holding on tight but there’s nothing to stop you flying away. Do you let go of the string or hold on?
The words of the song “Leaving on a Jet Plane” have been on repeat in my head and if you want to run away, break free, travel to the other side of the world, perhaps you too have a desire to roam.
Me v. You
Jupiter is the planet linked to global connections, travel, exploration, the bigger picture. Uranus adds the excitement factor, the desire to shock, cut off, break away.
These two planets oppose one another in the signs of Libra (Jupiter) and Aries (Uranus). This is the me v. you axis of the zodiac. As love planet Venus turns retrograde in Aries tomorrow, i.e. begins to retreat through the zodiac, March 4 2017, there may be a personal reason why you have a sudden urge to break free.
Us v. Them
Jupiter is the planet linked to truth and justice and it’s now in Libra, the sign that represents equality and fairness. This combination feels like the call of the Musketeers ‘all for one and one for all’.
Yet this is not what Uranus in Aries wants, opposing Jupiter in Libra. This is the symbol of the individual, the protestor, the activist. Whereas Jupiter in Libra seeks balance and harmony, Uranus in Aries wants to stir things up in a passionate or angry way.
This dilemma is nothing new in the world. How do you create laws that please or work for everyone, and how do you build an equal society when individuals want or need their freedom? Crazy (Uranus) laws (Jupiter) seem to be everywhere at the moment.
An opposition indicates a clash or a conflict. Yet the best way to handle an opposition is to find a way to balance the contradictory beliefs or values at the same time, so it’s not an either-or situation, instead it’s two separate needs or ideals that both require attention.
Today’s opposition takes place at 22 Libra/22 Aries which means you’re more likely to feel a strong urge for freedom/change if you have key planets/angles at 21-23 degrees of the cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.
The last Jupiter-Uranus opposition took place on December 26 2016 [20 degrees Libra/Aries] so think back to events over Christmas last year and the third and final Jupiter-Uranus opposition takes place on September 28 2017 [27 degrees Libra/Aries]. Today’s event is the middle pass and often the most significant.
Let me know if you’re ready to board the plane with me and we can order an extra large jumbo jet 🙂
Sending you best wishes, as always.
