Scorpio Mysteries And Indra’s Net
I trained as an astrologer at the Company of Astrologers in London. I’d tried various other schools of astrology but when I discovered the Company, I felt as if I’d come home.
Maggie Hyde, co-founder of the Company and an excellent astrologer, wrote the following short article about Scorpio. Here in the UK it was particularly foggy on the 23rd October, the day the Sun ingressed in to Scorpio and trined Neptune.
Neptune, God of the Sea, returned home to Pisces earlier this year and fittingly Maggie is a Pisces who lives by the sea. I hadn’t heard of Indra’s Net before but it’s an extraordinarily beautiful concept.
The Scorpio month began on 23 October (Happy Birthday Scorpios!), and with foggy Neptune so strong, it was unusually foggy here. The weather had a strange effect on the spiders, which are associated with this time of year. They had made fabulous webs on windows and buildings, which were high-lighted in dew and raindrops from the fog. Poetically, the image of the web joins people together, and we are all familiar with www and the world wide web, but the delicate and intricate patterns of the webs in the dew reminded me of the Buddhist story of Indra’s Net. Each jewel in his net reflects all the other jewels in the net, creating an infinity of connections. All humanity and all things are interconnected, and isn’t this the mystery that every Scorpio knows?
The Company of Astrologers holds astrology lectures on the first Thursday of the month term-time at Queen’s Square in Bloomsbury, London. Full details can be found on their website.
