5 Reasons Why The Movie The Notebook Is A Totally Scorpio Love Story

Spoiler alert: If you haven’t yet seen The Notebook and you don’t want to know what happens, then do not read any further. This article will reveal all.

This summer my daughter and I made a list of movies we’ve been meaning to watch but have never got round to. One of those was The Notebook, a romantic movie which came out in 2004 starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in the lead roles.

The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks and over the years, The Notebook has developed something of a cult status. For me it was high up the list of movies I wanted to watch because I love a good romantic movie and the fact that this movie included Ryan Gosling was an extra bonus.

Personally, the movie delivered. It was gorgeously romantic and both my daughter and I wept. In fact, it was so moving that when we talked about it again over dinner, my daughter wept for a second time, especially when I told her that the couple weren’t asleep as she had thought (if you’ve seen the movie, you’ll understand what I’m saying).

So why is The Notebook a total Scorpio love story?

1. Scorpio is the sign linked to passion and there’s plenty of passion but also conflict between the two main protagonists. When Scorpio loves deeply, this includes tension and Mars, Scorpio’s planet, rules anger as well as lust and sexuality.
2. The type of love that’s true for Scorpio is undying. It’s a soul-mate connection that lasts and never dies even when apart. It’s about star-crossed lovers, fate that intervenes, feeling pain as well as pleasure, knowing that love and destiny are connected as one. Noah & Allie are from completely different backgrounds but their love bridges the gap.
3. The two actors who played the lead role are both Sun Scorpio. Ryan Gosling, b. November 12 1980 and Rachel McAdams, b. November 17 1978. What’s so Scorpio about these two is that apparently they didn’t get on making the movie. Yet one year after its release, they became a couple in real life and dated for two years. Then they split up, then they got back together one year later, then they split up… and that’s the way it remained.
4. Two other key people involved with the movie were both born with the Moon in Scorpio. James Garner, b. April 7 1928 who narrates the movie and plays the elderly Noah, plus the director, Nick Cassavettes, b. May 21 1959. James Garner had a real-life ‘forever love story’ with his wife Lois Clark. They married 14 days after they met in 1956 and although they went through a period of separation, they got back together and were married 57 years when James Garner died in 2014. What’s interesting about the director, Nick Cassevettes, is that the Moon in your chart rules your mother, and it was his own mother, Gena Rowlands, who played the elderly Allie.
5. The elderly Noah & Allie are reunited in death, Scorpio’s domain. ‘Do you think our love could take us away together?’ ‘I think our love can do anything we want it to’. Holding hands together, never to be parted.

Aah, who doesn’t love to read about love that never dies. Here are some more epic lines from the movie which out of context might sound schmaltzy but they’re a glimpse into a romance that’s a totally Scorpio love story:

“They didn’t agree on much. In fact, they rarely agreed on anything. They fought all the time—and they challenged each other every day. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common: They were crazy about each other.”

“It was real, wasn’t it? You and me. Such a long time ago, we were just a couple of kids. But we really loved each other, didn’t we?”
